Adi bin Hatim said: A speaker delivered a speech in the presence of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He said: Anyone who obeys Allah and His Messenger, and one who disobeys them. He said: Go away, you are a bad speaker.

حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ رُفَيْعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الطَّائِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ خَطِيبًا خَطَبَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ فَقَدْ رَشَدَ وَمَنْ يَعْصِهِمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ قُمْ أَوِ اذْهَبْ بِئْسَ الْخَطِيبُ أَنْتَ .

عدی بن حاتم رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی موجودگی میں ایک خطیب نے خطبہ دیا اور یوں کہا: «من يطع الله ورسوله ومن يعصهما» تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم یہاں سے اٹھ جاؤ یا چلے جاؤ تم برے خطیب ہو ۱؎ ۔

Bint al-Harith bin al-Numan said: I memorized Surah al-Qaf from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم; he would recite it in his speech on every friday. Our oven and his oven were same. Abu Dawud said: Rawh bin Ubadah reported on the authority of Shubah the name Bint Harithah bin al-Numan ; and Ibn Ishaq reported the name of Umm Hisham hint Harithah bin al-Numan.

Jabir bin Samurah said: The prayer offered by the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم was moderate, and the sermon given by him was (also) moderate. He would recite a few verses from the Quran and exhort the people.

Umrah reported on the authority of her sister: I memorized Surah al-Qaf from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم; he used to recite it on every friday. Abu Dawud said: This tradition has been narrated in a similar way by Yahya bin Ayyub, Ibn Abu Ar-Rijal, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Umrah from Umm Hisham hint Harithah bin al-Numan.

This tradition has also been transmitted to the same effect through a different chain of narrators by Umrah from her sister Umrah daughter of Abdur-Rahman who was older than her.

Umarah bin Ruwaibah said that he saw Bishr bin Marwan (on the pulpit) praying on Friday (by raising his hands). Umarah said: May Allah reject these hands! I have seen the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم on the pulpit gesturing no more than this pointing with his forefinger.

Narrated Sahl ibn Saad: I never saw the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم raising his hands and praying on the pulpit or otherwise. But I saw him saying (doing) this way, and he would point with his forefinger making a circle by joining the middle finger with his thumb.
