Narrated Abu Qatadah: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم disapproved of the offering of prayer at the meridian except on Friday. The Hell-fire is kindled except on Friday. Abu Dawud said: This is a mursal tradition (i. e. the successor is narrating it directly from the Prophet). Mujahid is older than Abu al-Khalil, and Abu al-Khalil did not hear (any tradition from) Abu Qatadah.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا حَسَّانُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ لَيْثٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَرِهَ الصَّلَاةَ نِصْفَ النَّهَارِ إِلَّا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ تُسَجَّرُ إِلَّا يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ . قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ هُوَ مُرْسَلٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مُجَاهِدٌ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ، وَأَبُو الْخَلِيلِ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ.

ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ٹھیک دوپہر کے وقت نماز پڑھنے کو ناپسند کیا ہے سوائے جمعہ کے دن کے اور آپ نے فرمایا: جہنم سوائے جمعہ کے دن کے ہر روز بھڑکائی جاتی ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: یہ حدیث مرسل ( منقطع ) ہے، مجاہد عمر میں ابوالخلیل سے بڑے ہیں اور ابوالخلیل کا ابوقتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے سماع نہیں ہے۔

Anas bin Malik said: The Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم used to offer the Friday prayer when the sun declined.

Salamah bin al-Akwa reported on the authority of his father: We used to offer the Friday prayer along with the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and return (to our homes) while no shade of the walls was seen (at that time).

Sahl bin Saad said: We had a siesta or lunch after the Friday prayer.

Al-Saib bin Yazid said: During the time of the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم and Abu Bakr and Umar the call to the Friday prayer was first made at the time when the imam was seated on the pulpit (for giving the sermon). When the time of Uthman came, and the people became abundant, Uthman ordered to make a third call to the Friday prayer. It was made on al-Zaura (a house in Madina). The rule of action continued to the same effect.

Saeed bin Yazid said: The call to the (Friday) prayer was made at the gate of the mosque in front of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم when he sat on the pulpit, and of Abu Bakr and Umar. The narrator then repeated the same tradition as reported by Yunus.

Saib said: There was no other muadhdhin (pronouncer) of the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم except Bilal. The narrator then reported the tradition to the same effect.
