Narrated Al-Mughirah ibn Shubah: Ziyad ibn Ilaqah said: Al-Mughirah ibn Shubah led us in prayer and he stood up at the end of two rak'ahs. We said: Glory be to Allah; he also said: Glory be to Allah, and he proceeded. When he finished the prayer and gave the salutation, he made two prostrations of forgetfulness. When he turned (to us) he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم doing so as I did. Abu Dawud said: Ibn Abi Laila narrated this tradition in a similar manner from al-Shaibi from al-Mughirah bin Shubah. Abu 'Umais narrated it from Thabit bin Ubaid saying: Al-Mughirah bin Shubah led us in prayer, like the tradition reported by Ziyad bin 'Illaqah. Abu Dawud said: Abu 'Umais is the brother of al-Masudi. And Saad bin Abi Waqqas did the same as done by al-Mughirah, Imran bin Husain, Dahhak bin Qais and Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan. Ibn Abbas and Umar bin Abd al-Aziz issued legel verdict to the same effect. Abu Dawud said: This applies to a person who stands up at the end of two rak'ahs and males prostration after giving the salutation

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْجُشَمِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَلَّى بِنَاالْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ فَنَهَضَ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْنَا:‏‏‏‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَضَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا أَتَمَّ صَلَاتَهُ وَسَلَّمَ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيِ السَّهْوِ فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ كَمَا صَنَعْتُ. قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَكَذَلِكَ رَوَاهُ ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَفَعَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَوَاهُ أَبُو عُمَيْسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ صَلَّى بِنَاالْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ. قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ أَبُو عُمَيْسٍ أَخُو الْمَسْعُودِيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفَعَلَ سَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ مِثْلَ مَا فَعَلَ الْمُغِيرَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَفْتَى بِذَلِكَ وَعُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ. قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد:‏‏‏‏ وَهَذَا فِيمَنْ قَامَ مِنْ ثِنْتَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ سَجَدُوا بَعْدَ مَا سَلَّمُوا.

زیاد بن علاقہ کہتے ہیں مغیرہ بن شعبہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی، وہ دو رکعتیں پڑھ کر کھڑے ہو گئے، ہم نے سبحان الله کہا، انہوں نے بھی سبحان الله کہا اور ( واپس نہیں ہوئے ) نماز پڑھتے رہے، پھر جب انہوں نے اپنی نماز پوری کر لی اور سلام پھیر دیا تو سہو کے دو سجدے کئے، پھر جب نماز سے فارغ ہو کر پلٹے تو کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو ایسے ہی کرتے دیکھا ہے، جیسے میں نے کیا۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اسی طرح اسے ابن ابی لیلیٰ نے شعبی سے، شعبی نے مغیرہ بن شعبہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کیا ہے اور اسے مرفوع قرار دیا ہے، نیز اسے ابو عمیس نے ثابت بن عبید سے روایت کیا ہے، اس میں ہے کہ مغیرہ بن شعبہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی، پھر راوی نے زیاد بن علاقہ کی حدیث کے مثل روایت ذکر کی۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: ابو عمیس مسعودی کے بھائی ہیں اور سعد بن ابی وقاص رضی اللہ عنہ نے ویسے ہی کیا جیسے مغیرہ، عمران بن حصین، ضحاک بن قیس اور معاویہ بن ابی سفیان رضی اللہ عنہم نے کیا، اور ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما اور عمر بن عبدالعزیز نے اسی کا فتوی دیا ہے۔ ابوداؤد کہتے ہیں: اس حدیث کا حکم ان لوگوں کے لیے ہے جو دو رکعتیں پڑھ کر بغیر قعدہ اور تشہد کے اٹھ کھڑے ہوں، انہیں چاہیئے کہ سلام پھیرنے کے بعد سہو کے دو سجدے کریں۔

Narrated Thawban: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم said: For each forgetfulness there are two prostrations after giving the salutation. No one except Amr (ibn Uthman) mentioned the words from his father (in the chain Abdur Rahman ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr from Thawban).

Narrated Imran ibn Husayn: The Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم led them in prayer and forgot something, so he made prostrations and uttered the tashahhud, then gave the salutation.

Umm Salamah said; When the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم gave the salutation, he stayed for a while. By this people thought that women should return earlier than men.

Narrated Hulb (Yazid) at-Ta'i: Hulb prayed along with the Prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم. He used to turn to both his sides (sometimes to the left and sometimes to the right).

Abdullah (bin Masud) said; One of you should not give a share from his prayer to the devil, that he does not turn away expect to his right side. I saw the Messenger of Allah صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم often turning away to his left side. the narrator Umarah said: I came to Madina afterwards and saw that the houses of the prophet صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم were (built) in the left.
