Translation

Sulaiman b. Surad reported that two persons abused each other in the presence of Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and one of them fell into a rage and his face became red. Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) saw him and said: I know of a wording; if he were to utter that, he would get out (of the fit of anger) (and the wording is): I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed. Thereupon, a person went to him who had heard that from Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and said to him: Do you know what Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said? He (the Holy Prophet) said: I know of a wording; if he were to say that, (the fit) would be no more (and the words are): I seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed. And the person said to him: Do you find me mad?

حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ سَمِعْتُ الْأَعْمَشَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عَدِيَّ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ صُرَدٍ قَالَ اسْتَبَّ رَجُلَانِ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَعَلَ أَحَدُهُمَا يَغْضَبُ وَيَحْمَرُّ وَجْهُهُ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ ذَا عَنْهُ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ فَقَامَ إِلَى الرَّجُلِ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَتَدْرِي مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آنِفًا قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَوْ قَالَهَا لَذَهَبَ ذَا عَنْهُ أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ فَقَالَ لَهُ الرَّجُلُ أَمَجْنُونًا تَرَانِي ِ

ابواسامہ نے کہا : میں نے اعمش سے سنا ، وہ کہہ رہے تھے : میں نے عدی بن ثابت سے سنا ، وہ کہہ رہے تھے کہ ہمیں سلیمان بن صرد رضی اللہ عنہ نے حدیث بیان کی ، کہا : نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے دو آدمیوں نے آپس میں گالم گلوچ کیا ۔ ان میں سے ایک کو غصہ چڑھنا شروع ہو گیا اور اس کا چہرہ سرخ ہونے لگا ۔ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس کی طرف نظر کی اور فرمایا : " مجھے ایک کلمے : " اعوذبالله من الشيطان الرجيم " کا پتہ ہے ۔ اگر یہ شخص وہ ( کلمہ ) کہہ دے تو اس سے یہ ( غصہ ) جاتا رہے گا ۔ " نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے ( یہ بات ) سننے والوں میں سے ایک آدمی اٹھ کر اس شخص کی طرف گیا اور کہا : تمہیں پتہ ہے کہ ابھی ابھی رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کیا فرمایا ہے؟ آپ نے فرمایا ہے : " مجھے ایک ایسے کلمے : " اعوذبالله من الشيطان الرجيم " کا پتہ ہے ۔ اگر یہ ( شخص ) وہ ( کلمہ ) کہہ دے تو اس سے یہ کیفیت جاتی رہے گی ۔ " اس شخص نے کہا : کیا تم یہ سمجھ رہے ہو کہ میں جنون کا شکار ہو گیا ہوں؟

Anas reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: When Allah fashioned Adam in Paradise, He left him as He liked him to leave. Then Iblis roamed round him to see what actually that was and when he found him hollow from within, he recognised that he had been created with a disposition that he would not have control over himself.
