Sa'd b. Waqqas reported that Umar sought permission from Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) to visit him when some women of the Quraish were busy in talking with him and raising their voices above his Voiee. When'Umar sought permission they stood up and went hurriedly behind the curtain. Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) gave him permission smilingly. Thereupon 'Umar said: Allah's Messenger, may Allah keep you happy all your life. Then Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: I wonder at these women who were with me and no sooner did they hear your voice, they immediately went behind the curtain. Thereupon 'Umar said: Allah's Messenger, you have more right that they should fear you. Then Umar (addressing the women) said: O ye enemies of yourselves, do you fear me and fear not the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم )? They said: Yes, you are harsh and strict as compared to the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ). Thereupon, Allah's Messenger (maypeace be upon him) said: By Him in Whose Hand is my life, if satan would encounter you in the way he would certainly take a different way from that of yours.

حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعْدٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ - قَالَ: عَبْدٌ، أَخْبَرَنِي، وقَالَ حَسَنٌ: حَدَّثَنَا - يَعْقُوبُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ صَالِحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ سَعْدًا قَالَ: اسْتَأْذَنَ عُمَرُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَعِنْدَهُ نِسَاءٌ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ يُكَلِّمْنَهُ وَيَسْتَكْثِرْنَهُ، عَالِيَةً أَصْوَاتُهُنَّ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَأْذَنَ عُمَرُ قُمْنَ يَبْتَدِرْنَ الْحِجَابَ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَضْحَكُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: أَضْحَكَ اللهُ سِنَّكَ، يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَجِبْتُ مِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ اللَّاتِي كُنَّ عِنْدِي، فَلَمَّا سَمِعْنَ صَوْتَكَ ابْتَدَرْنَ الْحِجَابَ» قَالَ عُمَرُ: فَأَنْتَ، يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يَهَبْنَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ عُمَرُ: أَيْ عَدُوَّاتِ أَنْفُسِهِنَّ أَتَهَبْنَنِي وَلَا تَهَبْنَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قُلْنَ: نَعَمْ، أَنْتَ أَغْلَظُ وَأَفَظُّ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا لَقِيَكَ الشَّيْطَانُ قَطُّ سَالِكًا فَجًّا إِلَّا سَلَكَ فَجًّا غَيْرَ فَجِّكَ»

ابرا ہیم بن سعد نے صالح سے ، انھوں نے ابن شہاب سے روایت کی ، کہا : مجھے عبد الحمید بن عبد الرحمٰن بن زید نے بتا یا کہ انھیں محمد بن سعد بن ابی وقاص نے خبر دی ، ان کے والد سعد رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس حاضری کی اجازت طلب کی ، اس وقت قریش کی کچھ خواتین آپ کے پاس ( بیٹھی ) آپ سے گفتگو کر رہی تھیں ، بہت بول رہی تھیں ، ان کی آوازیں بھی اونچی تھیں ، جب حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اجازت مانگی تو وہ کھڑی ہو کر جلدی سے پردے میں جا نے لگیں ۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نےان کو اجازت دی ، آپ اس وقت ہنس رہے تھے ۔ حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے کہا : اللہ کے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ! اللہ تعا لیٰ آپ کے دندان مبارک کو مسکراتا رکھے!اس پر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فر ما یا : " میں ان عورتوں پر حیران ہوں جو میرے پاس بیٹھی ہو ئی تھیں تمھا ری آواز سنی تو فوراً پردے میں چلی گئیں ۔ " حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے عرض کی : اللہ کے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم !آپ کا زیادہ حق ہے کہ یہ آپ سے ڈریں پھر حضرت عمر کہنے لگے ۔ اپنی جان کی دشمنو!مجھ سے ڈرتی ہو اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے نہیں ڈرتی ہو؟ان عورتوں نے کہا : ہاں تم رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی نسبت سخت اور درشت مزاج ہو ۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فر ما یا : " اس ذات کی قسم جس کے ہاتھ میں میری جا ن ہے!جب کبھی شیطان تمھیں کسی راستے میں چلتے ہو ئے ملتا ہے تو تمھا را راستہ چھوڑ کر دوسرا راستہ اختیار کر لیتا ہے ۔

Abu Huraira reported that Umar b. Khattab came to Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) while there were some women with him and they were raising their voices above the voice of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and when Umar sought permission to get into the house they went behind the curtain hurriedly. The rest of the hadith is the same.

A'isha reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: There had been among the people before you inspired persons and if there were any such among my Umma Umar b. Khattab would be one of them. Ibn Wahb explained the word Muhaddathun as those who receive hint from the High (Mulhamun).

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Sa'd b. Ibrahim with the same chain of transmitters.

Ibn Umar reported Umar as saying: My lord concorded with (my judgments) on three occasions. In case of the Station of Ibrahim, in case of the observance of veil and in case of the prisoners of Badr.

Ibn Umar reported that when 'Abdullah b. Ubayy b. Salul (the hypocrite) died, his son Abdullah b. Abdullah came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon -him) and asked him to give his shirt which should be used for the coffin of his father. He gave that to him. Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) stood up to say prayer over him Thereupon I Umar caught hold of the clothe of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and said: Allah's Messenger, are you going to offer prayer, whereas Allah has forbidden to offer prayer for him, whereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Allah has given me a choice saying: Ask forgiveness for them or you may not ask for them; even if you ask for them seventy times, I will make an addition to the seventy. He was a hypocrite and Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said prayer over him that Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed the verse: And never pray over any one of them that has died and never should you stand by his grave (ix. 84).

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'Ubaidullah with the same chain of transmitter but with the addition of the words: He abandoned saying prayer over the hypocrites who had died.
