Abd Sa'id Khudri reported Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: There was a woman from Bani Isra'il who was short-statured and she walked in the company of two tall women with wooden sandals in her feet and a ring of gold made of plates with musk filled in them and then looked up, and musk is the best of scents; then she walked between two women and they (the people) did not recognise her, and she made a gesture with her hand like this, and Shu'ba shook his hand in order to give an indication how she shook her hand.
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي خُلَيْدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «كَانَتِ امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، قَصِيرَةٌ تَمْشِي مَعَ امْرَأَتَيْنِ طَوِيلَتَيْنِ، فَاتَّخَذَتْ رِجْلَيْنِ مِنْ خَشَبٍ، وَخَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ مُغْلَقٌ مُطْبَقٌ، ثُمَّ حَشَتْهُ مِسْكًا، وَهُوَ أَطْيَبُ الطِّيبِ، فَمَرَّتْ بَيْنَ الْمَرْأَتَيْنِ، فَلَمْ يَعْرِفُوهَا، فَقَالَتْ بِيَدِهَا هَكَذَا» وَنَفَضَ شُعْبَةُ يَدَهُ
  ابو اسامہ نے شعبہ سے روایت کی ، کہا : مجھے خُلید بن جعفرنے ابو نضر ہ سے ، انھوں نے حضرت ابوسعید خدری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے ، انھوں نے نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے روایت کی کہ آپ نے فر ما یا : بنی اسرا ئیل میں ایک پستہ قامت عورت دولمبے قد کی عورتوں کے ساتھ چلا کرتی تھی ۔ اس نے لکڑی کی دو ٹانگیں ( ایسے جوتے یا موزے جن کے تلووں والا حصہ بہت اونچا تھا ) بنوائیں اور سونے کی ایک بند ، ڈھکنے والی انگوٹھی بنوائی ، پھر اسے کستوری سے بھر دیا اور وہ خوشبوؤں میں سب سےاچھی خوشبو ہے وہ پھر وہ ان دونوں ( لمبی عورتوں ) کے درمیان میں ہو کر چلی تو لوگ اسے نہ پہچان سکے ، اس پر اس نے اپنے ہاتھ سے اس طرح اشارہ کیا ۔ " اور شعبہ نے ( شاگردوں کو دکھا نے کے لیے ) اپنا ہاتھ جھٹکا ۔

`Amr b. Sharid reported his father as saying: One day when I rode behind Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), he said (to me): Do you remember any poetry of Umayya b. Abu Salt. I said: Yes. He said: Then go on. I recited a couplet, and he said: Go on. Then I again recited a couplet and he said: Go on. I recited one hundred couplets (of his poetry). This hadith has been reported on the authority of Sharid through another chain of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording.

`Amr b. Sharid reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) asked him to recite poetry, the rest of the hadith is the same, but with this addition: He (that is Umayya b. Abu Salt) was about to become a Muslim , and in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Ibn Mahdi (the words are) He was almost a Muslim in his poetry.
