Umm Qais, daughter of Mihsan, was one of the earlier female emigrants who had pledged allegiance to Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ). She was the sister of Ukasha b. Mihsan, one of the posterity of Asad b. Khuzaima. She reported that she came to Allah's messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) along with her son who had not attained the age of weaning and she had compressed the swelling of his uvula. (Yunus said: She compressed the uvula because she was afraid that there might be swelling of uvula.) Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Why do you afflict your children by compressing in this way? You should use Indian aloeswood, for it has seven remedies in it, one of them being the remedy for pleurisy.

و حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَنَّ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ أَخْبَرَهُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ أُمَّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتَ مِحْصَنٍ وَكَانَتْ مِنْ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ اللَّاتِي بَايَعْنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ أُخْتُ عُكَّاشَةَ بْنِ مِحْصَنٍ أَحَدِ بَنِي أَسَدِ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أَنَّهَا أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِابْنٍ لَهَا لَمْ يَبْلُغْ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الطَّعَامَ وَقَدْ أَعْلَقَتْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ الْعُذْرَةِ قَالَ يُونُسُ أَعْلَقَتْ غَمَزَتْ فَهِيَ تَخَافُ أَنْ يَكُونَ بِهِ عُذْرَةٌ قَالَتْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَامَهْ تَدْغَرْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ بِهَذَا الْإِعْلَاقِ عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذَا الْعُودِ الْهِنْدِيِّ يَعْنِي بِهِ الْكُسْتَ فَإِنَّ فِيهِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْفِيَةٍ مِنْهَا ذَاتُ الْجَنْبِ

یونس بن یزید نے کہا کہ ابن شہاب نے انھیں بتا یا کہا : مجھے عبید اللہ بن عبد اللہ بن عتبہ بن مسعود نے خبر دی کہ حضرت ام قیس بنت محصن رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا ۔ پہلے پہل ہجرت کرنے والی ان خواتین میں سے تھیں جنھوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ بیعت کی تھی ۔ یہ بنوا سد بن خزیمہ کے فرد حضرت عکا شہ بن محصن رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کی بہن تھیں ۔ کہا : انھوں نے مجھے خبر دی کہ وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں اپنے ایک بیٹے کو لے کر آئیں جو ابھی کھانا کھانے کی عمر کو نہیں پہنچا تھا ، انھوں نے گلے کی سوزش کی بنا پر اس کے حلق کو انگلی سے دبایا تھا ۔ یونس نے کہا حلق دبایا تھا ۔ یعنی انگلی چبھو ئی تھی ( تا کہ فاصد خون نکل جا ئے ) انھیں یہ خوف تھا کہ اس گلے کے میں سوزش ہے ۔ انھوں ( ام قیس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا ) نے کہا : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فر ما یا : " اس انگلی چبھونے والے طریقے سے تم اپنے بچوں کا گلا کیوں دباتی ہو؟ اس عودہندی یعنی کُست کا استعمال کرو کیونکہ اس میں سات اقسام کی کی شفا ہے ان میں سے ایک نمونیا ۔ "

Ubaidullah reported that she had told that that was the child who had urinated in the lap of Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), and Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) called for water and sprinkled it on his urine, but he did not wash it well.

Abu Huraira reported that he heard Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Nigella seed is a remedy for every disease except death.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: There is no disease for which Nigella seed does not provide remedy.

A'isha the wife of Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: When there was any bereavement in her family the women gathered there for condolence and they departed except the members of the family and some selected persons. She asked to prepare talbina in a small couldron and it was cooked and then tharid was prepared and it was poured over talbina, then she said: Eat it, for I heard Allah's Messenger (may peade be upon him) as saying: Talbina gives comfort to the aggrieved heart and it lessens grief.

Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that a person came to Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and told him that his brother's bowels were loose. Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Give him honey. So he gave him that and then came and said: I gave him honey but it has only made his bowels more loose. He said this three times; and then he came the fourth time, and he (the Holy Prophet) said: Give him honey. He said: I did give him, but it has only made his bowels more loose, whereupon Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: Allah has spoken the truth and your brother's bowels are in the wrong. So he made him drink (honey) and he was recovered.
