This hadith has been reported on the authority of Hisham b. 'Urwa with a slight variation of wording.

و حَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَقَالَا ضِجَاعُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي مُعَاوِيَةَ يَنَامُ عَلَيْهِ

ابن نمیر اور ابو معاویہ دونوں نے ہمیں ہشام بن عروہ سے اسی سند کے ساتھ خبر دی اور کہا : " رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا استراحت کا بچھونا ۔ " اور ابو معاویہ کی حدیث میں ہے ۔ جس پر آپ سوتے تھے ۔

Jabir reported: When I was married, Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) asked me if I had got the carpet. I said: How can we have carpets? (i. e. I am so poor that I cannot even think of carpets). whereupon he said: You shall soon possess them.

Jabir b. Abdullah reported: When I was married. Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) asked me if I had got carpets. I said: How can we have carpets? Thereupon he said: You will soon have. Jabir said: My wife had possessed a carpet, and I said to her to remove that away from me, but she would say: Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) had said: You will soon have.

Jabir b. 'Abdullah reported that Allah's Messengor ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: There should be a bedding for a man. a bedding for his wife and the third one for the guest, and the fourth one is for the Satan.
