Jabir reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: Food for one suffices two and food for two suffices for four.
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ وَإِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا و قَالَ الْآخَرَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامُ الْوَاحِدِ يَكْفِي الِاثْنَيْنِ وَطَعَامُ الِاثْنَيْنِ يَكْفِي الْأَرْبَعَةَ
  ابو معاویہ نے ہمیں اعمش سے خبر دی ، انھوں نے ابو سفیان سے اور انھوں نے حضرت جابر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی ، کہا : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : " ایک آدمی کا کھانا دو آدمیوں کے لیے کافی ہوجاتا ہے اور دو کا کھانا چار کے لئے کافی ہوجاتا ہے ۔ "
