Ibn Ka'b b. Malik reported on the authority of his father that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to eat (food) with three fingers and he licked his hand before wiping it (with towel).
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْكُلُ بِثَلَاثِ أَصَابِعَ وَيَلْعَقُ يَدَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَمْسَحَهَا
  ابو معاویہ نے ہشام بن عروہ سے ، انھوں نے عبدالرحمان بن سعد سے ، انھوں نے حضرت کعب بن مالک رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کے بیٹے سے ، انھوں نے اپنے والد سے روایت کی ، کہا : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تین ا نگلیوں سے کھاتے تھے اور صاف کرنے سے پہلے اپنا ہاتھ ( تین انگلیاں ) چاٹ لیتے تھے ۔

Abdullah b. Ka'b reported that his father Ka'b narrated to him that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to eat with three fingers and when he had finished (eating), he licked them.

Jabir reported Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: When any one of you drops a mouthful he should pick it up and remove any of the filth on it, and then eat it, and should not leave it for the Satan, and should not wipe his hand with towel until he has licked his fingers, for he does not know in what portion of the food the blessing lies.

Jabir reported: I heard Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) as saying: The Satan is present with any one of you in everything he does; he is present even when he eats food; so if any one of you drops a mouthful he should remove away anything filthy on it and eat it and not leave for the devil; and when he finishes (food) he should lick his fingers, for he does not know in what portion of his food the blessing lies.
