Hajj?j bin ash-Sh??ir narrated to me, Ahmad- meaning Ibn Y?nus- narrated to us, Z??idah narrated to us, on authority of al-A?mash, on authority of Ibr?h?m that al-H?rith said: ?I studied the Qur??n for three years and the revelation for two years?; or he said: ??the revelation in three years and the Qur??n in two years

وحَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّ الْحَارِثَ، قَالَ: «تَعَلَّمْتُ الْقُرْآنَ فِي ثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ، وَالْوَحْيَ فِي سَنَتَيْنِ» أَوْ قَالَ «الْوَحْيَ فِي ثَلَاثِ سِنِينَ، والْقُرْآنَ فِي سَنَتَيْنِ»

حجاج بن شاعر ‘ احمد بن یونس نے ابراہیم نخعی سے روایت کی کہ حارث ( اعور ) نے کہا : میں نے قرآن تین سال میں سیکھا اور وحی دو سال میں ( یا کہا ) : وحی تین سال میں اور قرآن دو سال میں ۔ لغت میں وحی کے کئی معانی ہیں ، مثلاً : اشارہ کرنا ، کتابت ، الہام اور خفیہ کلام وغیرہ ، مگر اسلامی اصطلاح میں وحی اللہ کی طرف سے مقررہ طریقوں میں سے کسی طریقے سے ، اپنے رسول کی طرف کلام ، پیغام وغیرہ بھجوانا ہے ۔ حارث کی اس بات سے اسلامی اصطلاحات کے معاملے میں اس کی جہالت کا پتہ چلتا ہے ۔

Qutaybah bin Sa??d narrated to us, Jar?r narrated to us, on authority of Hamzah az-Zayy?t, he said: ?Murrah al-Hamd?n? heard something from al-H?rith and said to him: ?sit by the door?. [Hamzah] said: ?So Murrah went inside and took his sword and al-H?rith sensed evil and left?.

Ubayd Allah bin Sa??d narrated to me, Abd ur-Rahman- meaning Ibn Mahd?- narrated to us, Hamm?d bin Zayd narrated to us, on authority of Ibn Awn, he said, Ibr?h?m said to us: ?Beware of al-Mugh?rah bin Sa??d and Ab? Abd ar-Rah?m for they are both liars?.

Ab? K?mil al-Jahdar? narrated to us, Hamm?d- and he is Ibn Zayd- narrated to us, he said ?sim [bin Bahdalah] narrated to us, he said: ?We would catch up with Ab? Abd ar-Rahman as-Sulam? and at the time we were young men, so he would say to us: ?Do not sit with story-tellers other than Ab?l-Ahwas and beware of Shaq?q [Ab? Abd ar-Rah?m]?. [Muslim] said: ?This Shaq?q held the view of the Khaw?rij and is not Ab? W??il [Shaq?q bin Salamah, the righteous Tabi??]?.

Ab? Ghass?n Muhammad bin Amr ar-R?z? narrated to us, he said, I heard Jar?r [bin Abd al-Ham?d bin Qurt a?-?abb?] saying: ?I met J?bir bin Yaz?d al-Ju?f? and did not write [?ad?th] from him; he believed in ar-Raj?ah? [A R?fi?? belief regarding Al? returning].

Al-Hasan al-Hulw?n? narrated to us, Yahy? bin ?dam narrated to us, Mis?ar narrated to us, he said: ?J?bir bin Yaz?d narrated to us before there took place what happened [i.e. before his false beliefs] ?.
