Mujahid reported: I and 'Urwah b. Zubair entered the mosque and found 'Abdullah b. 'Umar sitting near the apartment of A'ishah and the people were observing the forenoon prayer (when the sun had sufficiently risen). We asked him about their prayer, and he said: It is bid'a (innovation), Urwah said to him: O Abu Abd al-Rahman, how many 'umrahs did Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) perform? He said: Four 'umrahs, one he performed during the month of Rajab. We were reluctant either to believe him or reject him. We heard the noise of brushing of her teeth by 'A'ishah in her apartment. 'Urwah said: Mother of the Faithful, are you not hearing what Abi 'Abd al-Rahman is saying? She said: What is he saying? Thereupon he ('Urwah) said: He (Ibn 'Umar) states that Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) performed four 'umrahs and one of them during the month of Rajab. Thereupon she remarked: May Allah have mercy upon Abu 'Abd al-Rahman. Never did Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) perform 'Umrah in which he did not accompany him, and he (Allah's Apostle) never performed 'Umrah during the month of Rajab.

وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَعُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَسْجِدَ، فَإِذَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ جَالِسٌ إِلَى حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ، وَالنَّاسُ يُصَلُّونَ الضُّحَى فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَسَأَلْنَاهُ عَنْ صَلَاتِهِمْ؟ فَقَالَ: بِدْعَةٌ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُرْوَةُ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، كَمِ اعْتَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟، فَقَالَ: أَرْبَعَ عُمَرٍ، إِحْدَاهُنَّ فِي رَجَبٍ، فَكَرِهْنَا أَنْ نُكَذِّبَهُ وَنَرُدَّ عَلَيْهِ، وَسَمِعْنَا اسْتِنَانَ عَائِشَةَ فِي الْحُجْرَةِ، فَقَالَ عُرْوَةُ: أَلَا تَسْمَعِينَ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِلَى مَا يَقُولُ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَقَالَتْ: وَمَا يَقُولُ؟ قَالَ: يَقُولُ: اعْتَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرْبَعَ عُمَرٍ إِحْدَاهُنَّ فِي رَجَبٍ فَقَالَتْ: يَرْحَمُ اللهُ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ «مَا اعْتَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، إِلَّا وَهُوَ مَعَهُ، وَمَا اعْتَمَرَ فِي رَجَبٍ قَطُّ»

مجا ہد سے روایت ہے کہا : میں اور عروہ بن زبیر مسجد میں داخل ہو ئے دیکھا تو عبد اللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ مسجد میں حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے حجرے ( کی دیوار ) سے ٹیک لگا ئے بیٹھے تھے اور لو گ مسجد میں چاشت کی نماز پڑھنے میں مصروف تھے ۔ ہم نے ان سے لوگوں کی ( اس ) نماز کے بارے میں سوال کیا ، انھوں نے فرمایا کہ بدعت ہے ۔ عروہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے ان سے پو چھا : ابو عبد الرحمٰن !رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ( کل ) کتنے عمرے کیے ؟انھوں نے جواب دیا : چار عمرے اور ان میں سے ایک رجب کے مہینے میں کیا ۔ ( ان کی یہ بات سن کر ) ہم نے انھیں جھٹلا نا اور ن کا رد کرنا منا سب نہ سمجھا ، ( اسی دورا ن میں ) ہم نے حجرے میں حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے مسواک کرنے کی آواز سنی ۔ عروہ نے کہا : المومنین !ابو عبد الرحمٰن کو کہہ رہے ہیں آپ نہیں سن رہیں؟ انھوں نے کہا وہ کیا کہتے ہیں؟ ( عروہنے ) کہا : وہ کہتے ہیں نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے چار عمرے کیے اور ان میں سے ایک عمرہ رجب میں کیا ہے انھوں نے فرمایا : اللہ تعا لیٰ ابو عبد الرحمٰن پر رحم فر ما ئے !رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جتنے بھی عمرے کیے یہ ( ابن عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ) ان کے ساتھ تھے ( یہ بھول گئے ہیں ) آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے رجب میں کبھی عمرہ نہیں کیا ۔

Ataa reported: I heard Ibn Abbas (Allah be pleased with him) narrating to us that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said to a woman of the Ansar (Ibn Abbas had mentioned her name but I have forgotten it): 'What has prevented you that you do not perform Hajj along with us? She said: We have only two camels for carrying water. One of the camels has been taken by my husband and my son for performing Hajj and one has been left for us for carrying water, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: So when the month of Ramadan come, perform Umra, for'Umra in this (month) is equal to Hajj (in reward).

Ibn Abbis reported that Allah's Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said to a woman of the Ansar who was called Umm Sinan: What has prevented you that you did not perform Hajj with us? She said: The father of so and so (i. e. her husband) had only two camels. One of them had been taken away by him (my busbard) and his son for Hajj, whereas the other one is used by our boy to carry water. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) said: Umra during the month of Rawadin would suffice for Hajj or Hajj along with me.

Ibn 'Umar reported that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to come out (of Medina) by way of al-Shajarah and entered it by the way of al-Mu'arras and whenever he entered Mecca, he entered it from the upper side and went out of it from the lower side.

This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'Ubaidullah with the same chain of transmitters and in the narration transmitted by Zubair (it is mentioned) that the upper side is that'which is at al-Batha

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that when Allah's Messenger may peace be upon him) came to Mecca he entered from its upper side and came out from its lower side.

A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that Allah's Messenger ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) entered Mecca during the year of Victory from Kada I. e. from the upper side. Hisham said.. My father entered It from both the Fides, but generally he entered from Kada.
