A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to observe two rak'ahs of Sunnah (prayer) when he heard the Adhin and shortened them.

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْ الْفَجْرِ إِذَا سَمِعَ الْأَذَانَ وَيُخَفِّفُهُمَا

عبدہ بن سلیمان نے کہا : ہمیں ہشام بن عروہ نے اپنے والد کے حوالے سے حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے حدیث بیان کی ، کہا : رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم اذان سنتے تو فجر کی دو رکعتیں پڑھتے اور ان میں تخفیف کرتے تھے ۔

A'isha reported that the Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) was not so much particular about observing supererogatory rak'ahs as in case of the two rak'ahs of the dawn prayer.

A'isha reported: I have never seen the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) hastening as much in observing supererogatory as two rak'ahs before the (Fard) of the dawn prayer.
