Translation

Abdullah b. Shaqiq reported: Ibn 'Abbas one day addressed us in the afternoon (after the afternoon prayer) till the sun disappeared and the stars appeared, and the people began to say: Prayer, prayer. A person from Banu Tamim came there. He neither slackened nor turned away, but (continued crying): Prayer, prayer. Ibn 'Abbas said: May you be deprived of your mother, do you teach me Sunnah? And then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) combining the noon and afternoon prayers and the sunset and 'Isha' prayers. 'Abdullah b. Shaqiq said: Some doubt was created in my mind about it. So I came to Abu Huraira and asked him (about it) and he testified his assertion.

و حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ الْخِرِّيتِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ خَطَبَنَا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَوْمًا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى غَرَبَتْ الشَّمْسُ وَبَدَتْ النُّجُومُ وَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَقُولُونَ الصَّلَاةَ الصَّلَاةَ قَالَ فَجَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ لَا يَفْتُرُ وَلَا يَنْثَنِي الصَّلَاةَ الصَّلَاةَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ أَتُعَلِّمُنِي بِالسُّنَّةِ لَا أُمَّ لَكَ ثُمَّ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ شَقِيقٍ فَحَاكَ فِي صَدْرِي مِنْ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ فَأَتَيْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَصَدَّقَ مَقَالَتَهُ

زبیر بن خریت نے عبداللہ بن شفیق سے روایت کی انھوں نے کہا : ایک دن حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ عصر کے بعد ہمیں خطاب کرنے لگے حتیٰ کہ سورج غروب ہوگیا اور ستارے نمودار ہوگئے اور لوگ کہنے لگے : نماز ، نماز! پھر ان کے پاس بنو تمیم کا ایک آدمی آیا جو نہ تھکتا تھا اور نہ باز آرہاتھا نماز ، نماز کہے جارہاتھا ، حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے کہا تیری ماں نہ ہو!تو مجھے سنت سکھا رہا ہے؟پھر کہا : میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا آپ نے ظہر وعصر کو اور مغرب وعشاء کو جمع کیا ۔ عبداللہ بن شفیق نے کہا : تو اس سے میرے دل میں کچھ کھٹکنے لگا ، چنانچہ میں حضر ت ابو ہریرۃ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور ان سے پوچھا تو ا نھوں نے ان ( ابن عباس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ ) کے قول کی تصدیق کی ۔

Abdullah b. Shaqiq al-'Uqaili reported: A person said to Ibn 'Abbas (as he delayed the prayer): Prayer. He kept silence. He again said: Prayer. He again kept silence, and he again cried: Prayer. He again kept silence and said: May you be deprived of your mother, do you teach us about prayer? We used to combine two prayers during the life of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ).

Abdullah reported: None of you should give a share to Satan out of your self. He should not deem that it is necessary for him to turn but to the right only (after prayer). I saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) turning to the left.

Suddi reported: I asked Anas how I should turn-to the right or to the left-when I say my prayers. He said: I have very often seen the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) turning to the right.

Anas reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) used to turn to the right (at the end of the prayer).

Bara' reported: When we prayed behind the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) we cherished to be on his right side so that his face would turn towards us (at the end of the prayer), and he (the narrator) said: I heard him say: O my Lord! save me from Thy torment on the Day when Thoil, wouldst raise or gather Thy servants.
