Abu Qatada reported that when the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) was in a journey he got down for rest at night, and he used to lie down on his right side, and when he lay down for rest before the dawn, he used to stretch his forearm and place his head over his palm.
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: «كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَعَرَّسَ بِلَيْلٍ، اضْطَجَعَ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ، وَإِذَا عَرَّسَ قُبَيْلَ الصُّبْحِ نَصَبَ ذِرَاعَهُ، وَوَضَعَ رَأْسَهُ عَلَى كَفِّهِ»
  حضرت ابو قتادہ ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت ہے ‘ کہا : رسول اللہ ﷺجب سفر میں ہوتے اور رات ( کے آخری حصے ) میں آرام کے لیے لیٹے تو دائیں پہلو پر لیٹتے اور جب صبح سے ذرا پہلو پر لیٹتے تو اپنی کہنی کھڑی کر لیتے اور سر ہتھیلی پر ٹکا لیتے ۔ ( تاکہ زیادہ گہری نیند نہ آئے ۔ اس حدیث کے الفاظ بھی اس بات کی تائید کرتے ہیں کہ اوپر بیان کیے گئے دو الگ الگواقعے ہیں ۔ )

Qatada reported from Anas b. Malik that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: He who forgets the prayer should say it when he remembers it, there is no explation for it, except this. Qatada said: (Allah says) And observe prayer for remembrance of Me

Qatada narrated on the authority of Anas b. Malik that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: He who forgets the prayer, or he slept (and it was omitted), its expiation is (only) that he should observe it when he remembers it.

Qatada reported it on the authority of Anas b. Malik that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: When any one of you omits the prayer due to sleep or he forgets it, he should observe it when he remembers it, for Allah has said: Observe prayer for remembrance of Me.

A'isha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), reported: The prayer was prescribed as two rak'ahs, two rak'ahs both in journey and at the place of residence. The prayer while travelling remained as it was (originally prescribed), but an addition was made in the prayer (observed) at the place of residence.

A'isha, the wife of the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ), said Allah prescribed the prayer as two rak'ahs, then it was completed (to four rak'ahs) at the place of residence, but was retained in the same position in journey as it was first made obligatory.
