Imran b. Husain reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said the afternoon prayer and gave the salutation. at the end of three rak'ahs and then went into his house. A man called al-Khirbaq, who bad long aims, got up and went to him, and addressed him as Messenger of Allah and mentioned to him what he had done. He came out angrily trailing his mantle, and when he came to the people he said: Is this man telling the truth? They said: Yes. He then said one rak'ah and then gave salutation and then performed two prostrations and then gave salutation.
وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، جَمِيعًا عَنِ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ، قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ: حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ، فَسَلَّمَ فِي ثَلَاثِ رَكَعَاتٍ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَنْزِلَهُ، فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْخِرْبَاقُ، وَكَانَ فِي يَدَيْهِ طُولٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَذَكَرَ لَهُ صَنِيعَهُ، وَخَرَجَ غَضْبَانَ يَجُرُّ رِدَاءَهُ، حَتَّى انْتَهَى إِلَى النَّاسِ، فَقَالَ: أَصَدَقَ هَذَا قَالُوا: نَعَمْ، «فَصَلَّى رَكْعَةً، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ»
  ) اسماعیل بن ابراہیم نے خالد ( حذاء ) سے ، انھوں نے ابو قلابہ سے ، انھوں نے ابو مہلب سے اور انھوں نے حضرت عمران بن حصین ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نےعصر کی نماز پڑھائی اور تین رکعات پر سلام پھیر دیا ، پھر اپنے گھر تشریف لے گئے تو ایک آدمی جسے خرباق کہا جاتا تھا اور اس کے ہاتھ لمبے تھے ، وہ آپ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہواا ور آپ سے عرض کی : اے اللہ کے رسول ! پھر آپ ﷺ سے جو ( سہو ) ہوا تھا اس کا آپ کے سامنے تذکرہ کیا ، آپ غصے کی حالت میں ، چادر گھسیٹتے ہوئے نکلے حتی کہ لوگوں کے پا س آ پہنچے اور پوچھا : ’’ کیا یہ سچ کہہ رہا ہے ؟ ‘ ‘ لوگوں نے کہا : جی ہاں ! توآپ نے ایک رکعت پڑھائی ، پھر سلام پھیرا ، پھر سہو کے دو سجدے کیے ، پھر سلام پھیرا ۔

Imran b. Husain reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said three rak'ahs of the 'Asr prayer and then got up and went to his apartment. A man possessing large arms stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, bias the player been shortened? He came out angrily, and said the rak'ah which he had omitted and then gave salutation. then performed two prostrations of forgetfulness and then gave salutation.

Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) while reciting the Qur'an recited its surah containing sajda, and he performed prostration and we also prostrated along with him (but we were so overcrowded) that some of us could not find a place for our forehead (when prostrating ourselves).

Ibn 'Umar reported: Sometimes the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) recited the Qur'an, and would pass by (recite) the verse of sajda and performed prostration and he did this along with us, but we were so crowded in his company that none of us could find a place for performing prostration. (and it was done on occasions) other than prayer.

Abdullah (b. 'Umar) reported: The Apostle of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) recited (Surat) al Najm and performed prostration during its recital and all those who were along with him also prostrated themselves except one old man who took a handful of pebbles or dust in his palm and lifted it to his forehead and said: This is sufficient for me. 'Abdullah said: I saw that he was later killed in a state of unbelief.

ta' b. Yasar reported that he had asked Zaid b. Thabit about recital along with the Imam, to which he said: There should be no recital along with the Imam in anything, and alleged that he recited: By the star when it sets (Surah Najm) before the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and he did not prostrate himself.

Abu Salama b. 'Abual-Rahman reported: Abu Huraira recited before them: hen the heaven burst asunder (al-Qur'an, lxxxiv. 1) and performed prostration. After completing (the prayer) he informed them that the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) has prostrated himself at it (this verse).
