Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) said: None of you must pray in a single garment of which no part comes over his shoulders.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، جَمِيعًا عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا يُصَلِّي أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ لَيْسَ عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ»

۔ حضرت ابو ہریرہ ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہﷺ نے فرمایا : ’’ تم میں سے کوئی شخص ایک کپڑے میں نماز اس طرح نہ پڑھے کہ اس کے کندھوں پر اس کا کوئی حصہ نہ ہو ۔ ‘ ‘

Umar b. Abu Salama reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) praying in Umm Salama's house in a single garment, placing its two ends over his shoulders.

This hadith has been narrated by Hisham b. 'Urwa with the same chain of transmitters except (with this difference) that the word mutawashshihan was used and not the word mushtamilan.
