Umar b. Abu Salama reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) praying in a single garment with its ends crossing each other. 'Isa b. Hammad added: placing on his shoulders .

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، وَعِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: «رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي ثَوْبٍ وَاحِدٍ مُلْتَحِفًا مُخَالِفًا بَيْنَ طَرَفَيْهِ» زَادَ عِيسَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ: فِي رِوَايَتِهِ قَالَ: عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْهِ

قتیبہ بن سعید اور عیسیٰ بن حماد نے کہا : ہمیں لیث نے یحییٰ بن سعید سے حدیث سنائی انہوں نے ابو امامہ بن سہل بن حنیف سے اور انہوں نے حضرت عمر بن ابی سلمہ ‌رضی ‌اللہ ‌عنہ ‌ ‌ سے روایت کی ، کہا : میں نے رسول اللہﷺ کو ایک کپڑے میں نماز پڑھتے دیکھا : آپ نے اس کو لپیٹا ہوا تھا اور اس کے دونوں کناروں کو مخالف سمت میں ڈالا ہوا تھا ۔ عیسیٰ بن حماد نے اپنی روایت میں یہ اضافہ کیا : اپنے کندھوں پر ڈالے ہوئے تھے ۔

Jabir reported: I saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) praying in a single garment crossing the two ends.

This hadith has been narrated by Sufyan with the same chain of transmitters and in the hadith transmitted by Numair the words are: I called upon the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ).

Abu Zubair reported that he saw Jabir b. 'Abdullah praying in a single garment crossing Its ends even though he had the garments, and Jabir said: He saw the Messenger of Allah ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) doing like this.

Abu Sa'id al Khudri reported: I visited the Apostle ( صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ) and saw him praying on a reed mat on which he was prostrating himself. And I saw him praying in a single garment with ends crossed with each other.

This hadith has been narrated by A'mash with the came chain of transmitters, and in the narration of Abu Karaib the words are: Placing its (mantle's) ends on his shoulders ; and the narration transmitted by Abu Bakr and Suwaid (the words are): the ends crossing with each other .

Abu Dharr reported: I said: Messenger of Allah, which mosque was set up first on the earth? He said: Al-Masjid al-Haram (the sacred). I (again) said: Then which next? He said: It was the Masjid Aqsa. I (again) said: How long the space of time (between their setting up)? He (the Holy Prophet) said: It was forty years. And whenever the time comes for prayer, pray there, for that is a mosque; and in the hadith transmitted by Abu Kamil (the words are): Whenever time comes for prayer, pray, for that is a mosque (for you).
