Narrated Al-Bara: When the Prophet went out for the `Umra in the month of Dhal-Qa'da, the people of Mecca did not allow him to enter Mecca till he agreed to conclude a peace treaty with them by virtue of which he would stay in Mecca for three days only (in the following year). When the agreement was being written, the Muslims wrote: This is the peace treaty, which Muhammad, Apostle of Allah has concluded. The infidels said (to the Prophet), We do not agree with you on this, for if we knew that you are Apostle of Allah we would not have prevented you for anything (i.e. entering Mecca, etc.), but you are Muhammad, the son of `Abdullah. Then he said to `Ali, Erase (the name of) 'Apostle of Allah'. `Ali said, No, by Allah, I will never erase you (i.e. your name). Then Allah's Apostle took the writing sheet...and he did not know a better writing..and he wrote or got it the following written! This is the peace treaty which Muhammad, the son of `Abdullah, has concluded: Muhammad should not bring arms into Mecca except sheathed swords, and should not take with him any person of the people of Mecca even if such a person wanted to follow him, and if any of his companions wants to stay in Mecca, he should not forbid him. (In the next year) when the Prophet entered Mecca and the allowed period of stay elapsed, the infidels came to `Ali and said Tell your companion (Muhammad) to go out, as the allowed period of his stay has finished. So the Prophet departed (from Mecca) and the daughter of Hamza followed him shouting O Uncle, O Uncle! `Ali took her by the hand and said to Fatima, Take the daughter of your uncle. So she made her ride (on her horse). (When they reached Medina) `Ali, Zaid and Ja`far quarreled about her. `Ali said, I took her for she is the daughter of my uncle. Ja`far said, She is the daughter of my uncle and her aunt is my wife. Zaid said, She is the daughter of my brother. On that, the Prophet gave her to her aunt and said, The aunt is of the same status as the mother. He then said to `Ali, You are from me, and I am from you, and said to Ja`far, You resemble me in appearance and character, and said to Zaid, You are our brother and our freed slave. `Ali said to the Prophet 'Won't you marry the daughter of Hamza? The Prophet said, She is the daughter of my foster brother.

حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ الْبَرَاءِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : لَمَّا اعْتَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ذِي الْقَعْدَةِ فَأَبَى أَهْلُ مَكَّةَ أَنْ يَدَعُوهُ يَدْخُلُ مَكَّةَ حَتَّى قَاضَاهُمْ عَلَى أَنْ يُقِيمَ بِهَا ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ، فَلَمَّا كَتَبُوا الْكِتَابَ ، كَتَبُوا هَذَا مَا قَاضَى عَلَيْهِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، قَالُوا : لَا نُقِرُّ لَكَ بِهَذَا ، لَوْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ مَا مَنَعْنَاكَ شَيْئًا ، وَلَكِنْ أَنْتَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ : أَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، وَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : امْحُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ : لَا ، وَاللَّهِ لَا أَمْحُوكَ أَبَدًا ، فَأَخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْكِتَابَ ، وَلَيْسَ يُحْسِنُ يَكْتُبُ ، فَكَتَبَ هَذَا مَا قَاضَى عَلَيْهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ لَا يُدْخِلُ مَكَّةَ السِّلَاحَ إِلَّا السَّيْفَ فِي الْقِرَابِ ، وَأَنْ لَا يَخْرُجَ مِنْ أَهْلِهَا بِأَحَدٍ إِنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَتْبَعَهُ ، وَأَنْ لَا يَمْنَعَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ أَحَدًا إِنْ أَرَادَ أَنْ يُقِيمَ بِهَا ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلَهَا وَمَضَى الْأَجَلُ ، أَتَوْا عَلِيًّا فَقَالُوا : قُلْ لِصَاحِبِكَ اخْرُجْ عَنَّا فَقَدْ مَضَى الْأَجَلُ ، فَخَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَتَبِعَتْهُ ابْنَةُ حَمْزَةَ تُنَادِي : يَا عَمِّ ، يَا عَمِّ ، فَتَنَاوَلَهَا عَلِيٌّ ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِهَا ، وَقَالَ لِفَاطِمَةَ عَلَيْهَا السَّلَام : دُونَكِ ابْنَةَ عَمِّكِ حَمَلَتْهَا ، فَاخْتَصَمَ فِيهَا عَلِيٌّ ، وَزَيْدٌ ، وَجَعْفَرٌ ، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ : أَنَا أَخَذْتُهَا وَهِيَ بِنْتُ عَمِّي ، وَقَالَ جَعْفَرٌ : ابْنَةُ عَمِّي وَخَالَتُهَا تَحْتِي ، وَقَالَ زَيْدٌ : ابْنَةُ أَخِي ، فَقَضَى بِهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِخَالَتِهَا ، وَقَالَ : الْخَالَةُ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْأُمِّ ، وَقَالَ لِعَلِيٍّ : أَنْتَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْكَ ، وَقَالَ لِجَعْفَرٍ : أَشْبَهْتَ خَلْقِي وَخُلُقِي ، وَقَالَ لِزَيْدٍ : أَنْتَ أَخُونَا وَمَوْلَانَا ، وَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ : أَلَا تَتَزَوَّجُ بِنْتَ حَمْزَةَ ؟ ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ .

مجھ سے عبیداللہ بن موسیٰ نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے اسرائیل نے بیان کیا ‘ ان سے ابواسحاق نے اور ان سے براء رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ انس رضی اللہ عنہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ذی قعدہ میں عمرہ کا احرام باندھا۔ مکہ والے آپ کے مکہ میں داخل ہونے سے مانع آئے۔ آخر معاہدہ اس پر ہوا کہ ( آئندہ سال ) مکہ میں تین دن آپ قیام کر سکتے ہیں۔ معاہدہ یوں لکھا جانے لگا ”یہ وہ معاہدہ ہے جو محمد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے کیا۔ کفار قریش کہنے لگے کہ ہم یہ تسلیم نہیں کرتے۔ اگر ہم آپ کو اللہ کا رسول مانتے تو روکتے ہی کیوں ‘ آپ تو بس محمد بن عبداللہ ہیں۔ آپ نے فرمایا کہ میں اللہ کا رسول بھی ہوں اور محمد بن عبداللہ بھی ہوں۔ پھر علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا کہ ( رسول اللہ کا لفظ مٹا دو ) انہوں نے کہا کہ ہرگز نہیں، اللہ کی قسم! میں یہ لفظ کبھی نہیں مٹا سکتا۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے وہ تحریر اپنے ہاتھ میں لے لی۔ آپ لکھنا نہیں جانتے تھے لیکن آپ نے اس کے الفاظ اس طرح کر دیئے ”یہ معاہدہ ہے جو محمد بن عبداللہ نے کیا کہ وہ ہتھیار لے کر مکہ میں نہیں آئیں گے۔ البتہ ایسی تلوار جو نیام میں ہو ساتھ لا سکتے ہیں اور یہ اگر مکہ والوں میں سے کوئی ان کے ساتھ جانا چاہے گا تو اسے اپنے ساتھ نہیں لے جائیں گے۔ لیکن اگر ان کے ساتھیوں میں کوئی مکہ میں رہنا چاہے گا اسے نہ روکیں گے۔ پھر جب ( آئندہ سال ) آپ اس معاہدہ کے مطابق مکہ میں داخل ہوئے ( اور تین دن کی ) مدت پوری ہو گئی تو مکہ والے علی رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس آئے اور کہا کہ اپنے ساتھی سے کہو کہ اب یہاں سے چلے جائیں ‘ کیونکہ مدت پوری ہو گئی ہے۔ جب نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مکہ سے نکلے تو آپ کے پیچھے حمزہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی بیٹی چچا چچا کہتی ہوئی آئیں۔ علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے انہیں لے لیا اور ہاتھ پکڑ کر فاطمہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے پاس لائے اور کہا کہ اپنے چچا کی بیٹی کو لے لو میں اسے لیتا آیا ہوں۔ علی ‘ زید ‘ جعفر رضی اللہ عنہم کا اختلاف ہوا۔ علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ یہ میرے چچا کی لڑکی ہے اور جعفر رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ یہ میرے چچا کی لڑکی ہے اس کی خالہ میرے نکاح میں ہیں۔ زید رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا یہ میرے بھائی کی لڑکی ہے لیکن نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کی خالہ کے حق میں فیصلہ فرمایا ( جو جعفر رضی اللہ عنہ کے نکاح میں تھیں ) اور فرمایا خالہ ماں کے درجے میں ہوتی ہے اور علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا کہ تم مجھ سے ہو اور میں تم سے ہوں۔ جعفر رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا کہ تم صورت و شکل اور عادت و اخلاق دونوں میں مجھ سے مشابہ ہو اور زید رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا کہ تم ہمارے بھائی اور ہمارے مولا ہو۔ علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے عرض کیا کہ حمزہ رضی اللہ عنہ کی صاحبزادی کو آپ اپنے نکاح میں لے لیں لیکن آپ نے فرمایا کہ وہ میرے رضاعی بھائی کی لڑکی ہے۔

Narrated Ibn `Umar: Allah's Apostle set out with the intention of performing `Umra, but the infidels of Quraish intervened between him and the Ka`ba, so the Prophet slaughtered his Hadi (i.e. sacrificing animals and shaved his head at Al-Hudaibiya and concluded a peace treaty with them (i.e. the infidels) on condition that he would perform the `Umra the next year and that he would not carry arms against them except swords, and would not stay (in Mecca) more than what they would allow. So the Prophet performed the `Umra in the following year and according to the peace treaty, he entered Mecca, and when he had stayed there for three days, the infidels ordered him to leave, and he left.

Narrated Mujahid: `Urwa and I entered the Mosque and found `Abdullah bin `Umar sitting beside the dwelling place of `Aisha. `Urwa asked (Ibn `Umar), How many `Umras did the Prophet perform? Ibn `Umar replied, Four, one of which was in Rajab.

Then we heard `Aisha brushing her teeth whereupon `Urwa said, O mother of the believers! Don't you hear what Abu `Abdur-Rahman is saying? He is saying that the Prophet performed four `Umra, one of which was in Rajab. `Aisha said, The Prophet did not perform any `Umra but he (i.e. Ibn `Umar) witnessed it. And he (the Prophet ) never did any `Umra in (the month of) Rajab.

Narrated Ibn Abi `Aufa: When Allah's Apostle performed the `Umra (which he performed in the year following the treaty of Al-Hudaibiya) we were screening Allah's Apostle from the infidels and their boys lest they should harm him.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: When Allah's Apostle and his companions arrived (at Mecca), the pagans said, There have come to you a group of people who have been weakened by the fever of Yathrib (i.e. Medina). So the Prophet ordered his companions to do Ramal (i.e. fast walking) in the first three rounds of Tawaf around the Ka`ba and to walk in between the two corners (i.e. the black stone and the Yemenite corner). The only cause which prevented the Prophet from ordering them to do Ramal in all the rounds of Tawaf, was that he pitied them.

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: The Prophet hastened in going around the Ka`ba and between the Safa and Marwa in order to show the pagans his strength. Ibn `Abbas added, When the Prophet arrived (at Mecca) in the year of peace (following that of Al-Hudaibiya treaty with the pagans of Mecca), he (ordered his companions) to do Ramal in order to show their strength to the pagans and the pagans were watching (the Muslims) from (the hill of) Quaiqan.
