Narrated `Ali: I had a she-camel which I got in my share from the booty of the battle of Badr, and the Prophet had given me another she camel from the Khumus which Allah had bestowed on him that day. And when I intended to celebrate my marriage to Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet, I made an arrangement with a goldsmith from Bani Qainuqa 'that he should go with me to bring Idhkhir (i.e. a kind of grass used by gold-smiths) which I intended to sell to gold-smiths in order to spend its price on the marriage banquet. While I was collecting ropes and sacks of pack saddles for my two she-camels which were kneeling down beside an Ansari's dwelling and after collecting what I needed, I suddenly found that the humps of the two she-camels had been cut off and their flanks had been cut open and portions of their livers had been taken out. On seeing that, I could not help weeping. I asked, Who has done that? They (i.e. the people) said, Hamza bin `Abdul Muttalib has done it. He is present in this house with some Ansari drinkers, a girl singer, and his friends. The singer said in her song, O Hamza, get at the fat she-camels! On hearing this, Hamza rushed to his sword and cut of the camels' humps and cut their flanks open and took out portions from their livers. Then I came to the Prophet, with whom Zaid bin Haritha was present. The Prophet noticed my state and asked, What is the matter? I said, O Allah's Apostle, I have never experienced such a day as today! Hamza attacked my two she-camels, cut off their humps and cut their flanks open, and he is still present in a house along some drinkers. The Prophet asked for his cloak, put it on, and proceeded, followed by Zaid bin Haritha and myself, till he reached the house where Hamza was. He asked the permission to enter, and he was permitted. The Prophet started blaming Hamza for what he had done. Hamza was drunk and his eyes were red. He looked at the Prophet then raised his eyes to look at his knees and raised his eves more to look at his face and then said, You are not but my father's slaves. When the Prophet understood that Hamza was drunk, he retreated, walking backwards went out and we left with him.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَنْبَسَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ ، أَنَّ حُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلَام أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ، قَالَ : كَانَتْ لِي شَارِفٌ مِنْ نَصِيبِي مِنَ الْمَغْنَمِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ , وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْطَانِي مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْخُمُسِ يَوْمَئِذٍ , فَلَمَّا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَبْتَنِيَ بِفَاطِمَةَ عَلَيْهَا السَّلَام بِنْتِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَاعَدْتُ رَجُلًا صَوَّاغًا فِي بَنِي قَيْنُقَاعَ أَنْ يَرْتَحِلَ مَعِي فَنَأْتِيَ بِإِذْخِرٍ , فَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَبِيعَهُ مِنَ الصَّوَّاغِينَ فَنَسْتَعِينَ بِهِ فِي وَلِيمَةِ عُرْسِي , فَبَيْنَا أَنَا أَجْمَعُ لِشَارِفَيَّ مِنَ الْأَقْتَابِ وَالْغَرَائِرِ وَالْحِبَالِ وَشَارِفَايَ مُنَاخَانِ إِلَى جَنْبِ حُجْرَةِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ حَتَّى جَمَعْتُ مَا جَمَعْتُ , فَإِذَا أَنَا بِشَارِفَيَّ قَدْ أُجِبَّتْ أَسْنِمَتُهَا وَبُقِرَتْ خَوَاصِرُهُمَا وَأُخِذَ مِنْ أَكْبَادِهِمَا , فَلَمْ أَمْلِكْ عَيْنَيَّ حِينَ رَأَيْتُ الْمَنْظَرَ ، قُلْتُ : مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا ؟ قَالُوا : فَعَلَهُ حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَهُوَ فِي هَذَا الْبَيْتِ فِي شَرْبٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ عِنْدَهُ قَيْنَةٌ وَأَصْحَابُهُ ، فَقَالَتْ : فِي غِنَائِهَا أَلَا يَا حَمْزُ لِلشُّرُفِ النِّوَاءِ فَوَثَبَ حَمْزَةُ إِلَى السَّيْفِ , فَأَجَبَّ أَسْنِمَتَهُمَا وَبَقَرَ خَوَاصِرَهُمَا وَأَخَذَ مِنْ أَكْبَادِهِمَا ، قَالَ عَلِيٌّ : فَانْطَلَقْتُ حَتَّى أَدْخُلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ وَعَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الَّذِي لَقِيتُ ، فَقَالَ : مَا لَكَ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ عَدَا حَمْزَةُ عَلَى نَاقَتَيَّ فَأَجَبَّ أَسْنِمَتَهُمَا وَبَقَرَ خَوَاصِرَهُمَا وَهَهُوَذَا فِي بَيْتٍ مَعَهُ شَرْبٌ , فَدَعَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرِدَائِهِ فَارْتَدَى ، ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ يَمْشِي وَاتَّبَعْتُهُ أَنَا وَزَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ حَتَّى جَاءَ الْبَيْتَ الَّذِي فِيهِ حَمْزَةُ فَاسْتَأْذَنَ عَلَيْهِ , فَأُذِنَ لَهُ فَطَفِقَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَلُومُ حَمْزَةَ فِيمَا فَعَلَ , فَإِذَا حَمْزَةُ ثَمِلٌ مُحْمَرَّةٌ عَيْنَاهُ , فَنَظَرَ حَمْزَةُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , ثُمَّ صَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى رُكْبَتِهِ ثُمَّ صَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى وَجْهِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ حَمْزَةُ : وَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا عَبِيدٌ لِأَبِي , فَعَرَفَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ ثَمِلٌ , فَنَكَصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ الْقَهْقَرَى فَخَرَجَ وَخَرَجْنَا مَعَهُ .

ہم سے عبدان نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم کو عبداللہ بن مبارک نے خبر دی، انہیں یونس بن یزید نے خبر دی، (دوسری سند) امام بخاری رحمہ اللہ نے کہا ہم کو احمد بن صالح نے خبر دی، ان سے عنبسہ بن خالد نے بیان کیا، کہا ہم سے یونس نے بیان کیا، ان سے زہری نے، انہیں علی بن حسین (امام زین العابدین) نے خبر دی، انہیں حسین بن علی رضی اللہ عنہما نے خبر دی اور ان سے علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ جنگ بدر کی غنیمت میں سے مجھے ایک اور اونٹنی ملی تھی اور اسی جنگ کی غنیمت میں سے اللہ تعالیٰ نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا جو خمس کے طور پر حصہ مقرر کیا تھا اس میں سے بھی نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے ایک اونٹنی عنایت فرمائی تھی۔ پھر میرا ارادہ ہوا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی صاحبزادی فاطمہ رضی اللہ عنہا کی رخصتی کرا لاؤں۔ اس لیے بنی قینقاع کے ایک سنار سے بات چیت کی کہ وہ میرے ساتھ چلے اور ہم اذخر گھاس لائیں۔ میرا ارادہ تھا کہ میں اس گھاس کو سناروں کے ہاتھ بیچ دوں گا اور اس کی قیمت ولیمہ کی دعوت میں لگاؤں گا۔ میں ابھی اپنی اونٹنی کے لیے پالان، ٹوکرے اور رسیاں جمع کر رہا تھا۔ اونٹنیاں ایک انصاری صحابی کے حجرہ کے قریب بیٹھی ہوئی تھیں۔ میں جن انتظامات میں تھا جب وہ پورے ہو گئے تو ( اونٹنیوں کو لینے آیا ) وہاں دیکھا کہ ان کے کوہان کسی نے کاٹ دیئے ہیں اور کوکھ چیر کر اندر سے کلیجی نکال لی ہے۔ یہ حالت دیکھ کر میں اپنے آنسوؤں کو نہ روک سکا۔ میں نے پوچھا، یہ کس نے کیا ہے؟ لوگوں نے بتایا کہ حمزہ بن عبدالمطلب رضی اللہ عنہ نے اور وہ ابھی اسی حجرہ میں انصار کے ساتھ شراب نوشی کی ایک مجلس میں موجود ہیں۔ ان کے پاس ایک گانے والی ہے اور ان کے دوست احباب ہیں۔ گانے والی نے گاتے ہوئے جب یہ مصرع پڑھا۔ ہاں، اے حمزہ! یہ عمدہ اور فربہ اونٹنیاں ہیں، تو حمزہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کود کر اپنی تلوار تھامی اور ان دونوں اونٹنیوں کے کوہان کاٹ ڈالے اور ان کی کوکھ چیر کر اندر سے کلیجی نکال لی۔ علی رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ پھر میں وہاں سے نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا۔ زید بن حارثہ رضی اللہ عنہ بھی نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں موجود تھے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے میرے غم کو پہلے ہی جان لیا اور فرمایا کہ کیا بات پیش آئی؟ میں بولا: یا رسول اللہ! آج جیسی تکلیف کی بات کبھی پیش نہیں آئی تھی۔ حمزہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے میری دونوں اونٹنیوں کو پکڑ کے ان کے کوہان کاٹ ڈالے اور ان کی کوکھ چیر ڈالی ہے۔ وہ یہیں ایک گھر میں شراب کی مجلس جمائے بیٹھے ہیں۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنی چادر مبارک منگوائی اور اسے اوڑھ کر آپ تشریف لے چلے۔ میں اور زید بن حارثہ رضی اللہ عنہ بھی ساتھ ساتھ ہولئے۔ جب اس گھر کے قریب آپ تشریف لے گئے اور حمزہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے جو کچھ کیا تھا اس پر انہیں تنبیہ فرمائی۔ حمزہ رضی اللہ عنہ شراب کے نشے میں مست تھے اور ان کی آنکھیں سرخ تھیں۔ انہوں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی طرف نظر اٹھائی، پھر ذرا اور اوپر اٹھائی اور آپ کے گھٹنوں پر دیکھنے لگے، پھر اور نظر اٹھائی اور آپ کے چہرہ پر دیکھنے لگے۔ پھر کہنے لگے، تم سب میرے باپ کے غلام ہو۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سمجھ گئے کہ وہ اس وقت بیہوش ہیں۔ اس لیے آپ فوراً الٹے پاؤں اس گھر سے باہر نکل آئے، ہم بھی آپ کے ساتھ تھے۔

Narrated Ibn Maqal: `Ali led the funeral prayer of Sahl bin Hunaif and said, He was one of the warriors of Badr.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: `Umar bin Al-Khattab said, When (my daughter) Hafsa bint `Umar lost her husband Khunais bin Hudhaifa As-Sahrni who was one of the companions of Allah's Apostle and had fought in the battle of Badr and had died in Medina, I met `Uthman bin `Affan and suggested that he should marry Hafsa saying, If you wish, I will marry Hafsa bint `Umar to you,' on that, he said, 'I will think it over.' I waited for a few days and then he said to me. 'I am of the opinion that I shall not marry at present.' Then I met Abu Bakr and said, 'if you wish, I will marry you, Hafsa bint `Umar.' He kept quiet and did not give me any reply and I became more angry with him than I was with `Uthman . Some days later, Allah's Apostle demanded her hand in marriage and I married her to him. Later on Abu Bakr met me and said, Perhaps you were angry with me when you offered me Hafsa for marriage and I gave no reply to you?' I said, 'Yes.' Abu Bakr said, 'Nothing prevented me from accepting your offer except that I learnt that Allah's Apostle had referred to the issue of Hafsa and I did not want to disclose the secret of Allah's Apostle , but had he (i.e. the Prophet) given her up I would surely have accepted her.

Narrated Abu Masud Al-Badri: The Prophet said, A man's spending on his family is a deed of charity.

Narrated Az-Zuhri: I heard `Urwa bin Az-Zubair talking to `Umar bin `Abdul `Aziz during the latter's Governorship (at Medina), he said, Al-Mughira bin Shu`ba delayed the `Asr prayer when he was the ruler of Al-Kufa. On that, Abu Mas`ud. `Uqba bin `Amr Al-Ansari, the grand-father of Zaid bin Hasan, who was one of the Badr warriors, came in and said, (to Al-Mughira), 'You know that Gabriel came down and offered the prayer and Allah's Apostle prayed five prescribed prayers, and Gabriel said (to the Prophet ), I have been ordered to do so (i.e. offer these five prayers at these fixed stated hours of the day).

Narrated Abu Masud Al-Badri: Allah's Apostle said, It is sufficient for one to recite the last two Verses of Surat-al-Baqara at night.
