Narrated Jabir bin `Abdullah: I was with the Prophet in a Ghazwa (Military Expedition) and my camel was slow and exhausted. The Prophet came up to me and said, O Jabir. I replied, Yes? He said, What is the matter with you? I replied, My camel is slow and tired, so I am left behind. So, he got down and poked the camel with his stick and then ordered me to ride. I rode the camel and it became so fast that I had to hold it from going ahead of Allah's Apostle . He then asked me, have you got married? I replied in the affirmative. He asked, A virgin or a matron? I replied, I married a matron. The Prophet said, Why have you not married a virgin, so that you may play with her and she may play with you? Jabir replied, I have sisters (young in age) so I liked to marry a matron who could collect them all and comb their hair and look after them. The Prophet said, You will reach, so when you have arrived (at home), I advise you to associate with your wife (that you may have an intelligent son). Then he asked me, Would you like to sell your camel? I replied in the affirmative and the Prophet purchased it for one Uqiya of gold. Allah's Apostle reached before me and I reached in the morning, and when I went to the mosque, I found him at the door of the mosque. He asked me, Have you arrived just now? I replied in the affirmative. He said, Leave your camel and come into (the mosque) and pray two rak`at. I entered and offered the prayer. He told Bilal to weigh and give me one Uqiya of gold. So Bilal weighed for me fairly and I went away. The Prophet sent for me and I thought that he would return to me my camel which I hated more than anything else. But the Prophet said to me, Take your camel as well as its price.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزَاةٍ ، فَأَبْطَأَ بِي جَمَلِي وَأَعْيَا ، فَأَتَى عَلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : جَابِرٌ ؟ فَقُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : مَا شَأْنُكَ ؟ قُلْتُ : أَبْطَأَ عَلَيَّ جَمَلِي ، وَأَعْيَا ، فَتَخَلَّفْتُ ، فَنَزَلَ يَحْجُنُهُ بِمِحْجَنِهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : ارْكَبْ ، فَرَكِبْتُ ، فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُهُ أَكُفُّهُ عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : تَزَوَّجْتَ ؟ قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : بِكْرًا أَمْ ثَيِّبًا ، قُلْتُ : بَلْ ثَيِّبًا ، قَالَ : أَفَلَا جَارِيَةً تُلَاعِبُهَا وَتُلَاعِبُكَ ، قُلْتُ : إِنَّ لِي أَخَوَاتٍ فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ امْرَأَةً تَجْمَعُهُنَّ وَتَمْشُطُهُنَّ وَتَقُومُ عَلَيْهِنَّ ، قَالَ : أَمَّا إِنَّكَ قَادِمٌ ، فَإِذَا قَدِمْتَ فَالْكَيْسَ الْكَيْسَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَتَبِيعُ جَمَلَكَ ؟ قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، فَاشْتَرَاهُ مِنِّي بِأُوقِيَّةٍ ، ثُمَّ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلِي ، وَقَدِمْتُ بِالْغَدَاةِ ، فَجِئْنَا إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَوَجَدْتُهُ عَلَى بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، قَالَ : آلْآنَ قَدِمْتَ ، قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَدَعْ جَمَلَكَ فَادْخُلْ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَدَخَلْتُ فَصَلَّيْتُ ، فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا أَنْ يَزِنَ لَهُ أُوقِيَّةً ، فَوَزَنَ لِي بِلَالٌ ، فَأَرْجَحَ لِي فِي الْمِيزَانِ ، فَانْطَلَقْتُ حَتَّى وَلَّيْتُ ، فَقَالَ : ادْعُ لِيجَابِرًا ، قُلْتُ : الْآنَ يَرُدُّ عَلَيَّ الْجَمَلَ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ شَيْءٌ أَبْغَضَ إِلَيَّ مِنْهُ ، قَالَ : خُذْ جَمَلَكَ وَلَكَ ثَمَنُهُ .

ہم سے محمد بن بشار نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے عبدالوہاب نے بیان کیا، کہا کہ ہم سے عبیداللہ نے بیان کیا، ان سے وہب بن کیسان نے بیان کیا اور ان سے جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہما نے بیان کیا کہ میں نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ ایک غزوہ ( ذات الرقاع یا تبوک ) میں تھا۔ میرا اونٹ تھک کر سست ہو گیا۔ اتنے میں میرے پاس نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف لائے اور فرمایا جابر! میں نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! حاضر ہوں۔ فرمایا کیا بات ہوئی؟ میں نے کہا کہ میرا اونٹ تھک کر سست ہو گیا ہے، چلتا ہی نہیں اس لیے میں پیچھے رہ گیا ہوں۔ پھر آپ اپنی سواری سے اترے اور میرے اسی اونٹ کو ایک ٹیرھے منہ کی لکڑی سے کھینچنے لگے ( یعنی ہانکنے لگے ) اور فرمایا کہ اب سوار ہو جا۔ چنانچہ میں سوار ہو گیا۔ اب تو یہ حال ہوا کہ مجھے اسے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے برابر پہنچنے سے روکنا پڑ جاتا تھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا، جابر تو نے شادی بھی کر لی ہے؟ میں نے عرض کی جی ہاں! دریافت فرمایا کسی کنواری لڑکی سے کی ہے یا بیوہ سے۔ میں نے عرض کیا کہ میں نے تو ایک بیوہ سے کر لی ہے۔ فرمایا، کسی کنواری لڑکی سے کیوں نہ کی کہ تم اس کے ساتھ کھیلتے اور وہ بھی تمہارے ساتھ کھیلتی۔ ( جابر بھی کنوارے تھے ) میں نے عرض کیا کہ میری کئی بہنیں ہیں۔ ( اور میری ماں کا انتقال ہو چکا ہے ) اس لیے میں نے یہی پسند کیا کہ ایسی عورت سے شادی کروں، جو انہیں جمع رکھے۔ ان کے کنگھا کرے اور ان کی نگرانی کرے۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ اچھا اب تم گھر پہنچ کر خیر و عافیت کے ساتھ خوب مزے اڑانا۔ اس کے بعد فرمایا، کیا تم اپنا اونٹ بیچو گے؟ میں نے کہا جی ہاں! چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ایک اوقیہ چاندی میں خرید لیا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مجھ سے پہلے ہی مدینہ پہنچ گئے تھے۔ اور میں دوسرے دن صبح کو پہنچا۔ پھر ہم مسجد آئے تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مسجد کے دروازہ پر ملے۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دریافت فرمایا، کیا ابھی آئے ہو؟ میں نے عرض کیا کہ جی ہاں! فرمایا، پھر اپنا اونٹ چھوڑ دے اور مسجد میں جا کے دو رکعت نماز پڑھ۔ میں اندر گیا اور نماز پڑھی۔ اس کے بعد آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بلال رضی اللہ عنہ کو حکم دیا کہ میرے لیے ایک اوقیہ چاندی تول دے۔ انہوں نے ایک اوقیہ چاندی جھکتی ہوئی تول دی۔ میں پیٹھ موڑ کر چلا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ جابر کو ذرا بلاؤ۔ میں نے سوچا کہ شاید اب میرا اونٹ پھر مجھے واپس کریں گے۔ حالانکہ اس سے زیادہ ناگوار میرے لیے کوئی چیز نہیں تھی۔ چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے یہی فرمایا کہ یہ اپنا اونٹ لے جا اور اس کی قیمت بھی تمہاری ہے۔

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: `Ukaz, Majanna and Dhul-Majaz were markets in the Pre-Islamic period. When the people embraced Islam they considered it a sin to trade there. So, the following Holy Verse came:-- 'There is no harm for you if you seek of the bounty of your Lord (Allah) in the Hajj season. (2.198) Ibn `Abbas recited it like this.

Narrated `Amr: Here (i.e. in Mecca) there was a man called Nawwas and he had camels suffering from the disease of excessive and unquenchable thirst. Ibn `Umar went to the partner of Nawwas and bought those camels. The man returned to Nawwas and told him that he had sold those camels. Nawwas asked him, To whom have you sold them? He replied, To such and such Sheikh. Nawwas said, Woe to you; By Allah, that Sheikh was Ibn `Umar. Nawwas then went to Ibn `Umar and said to him, My partner sold you camels suffering from the disease of excessive thirst and he had not known you. Ibn `Umar told him to take them back. When Nawwas went to take them, Ibn `Umar said to him, Leave them there as I am happy with the decision of Allah's Apostle that there is no oppression .

Narrated Abu Qatada: We set out with Allah's Apostle in the year of Hunain, (the Prophet gave me an armor). I sold that armor and bought a garden in the region of the tribe of Bani Salama and that was the first property I got after embracing Islam.

Narrated Abu Musa: Allah's Apostle said, The example of a good companion (who sits with you) in comparison with a bad one, is I like that of the musk seller and the blacksmith's bellows (or furnace); from the first you would either buy musk or enjoy its good smell while the bellows would either burn your clothes or your house, or you get a bad nasty smell thereof.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Abu Taiba cupped Allah's Apostle so he ordered that he be paid one Sa of dates and ordered his masters to reduce his tax (as he was a slave and had to pay a tax to them).

Narrated Ibn `Abbas: Once the Prophet got his blood out (medically) and paid that person who had done it. If it had been illegal, the Prophet would not have paid him.
