Translation

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Umar: Sa`d bin Abi Waqqas said, The Prophet passed wet hands over his Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather). `Abdullah bin `Umar asked `Umar about it. `Umar replied in the affirmative and added, Whenever Sa`d narrates a Hadith from the Prophet, there is no need to ask anyone else about it.

حَدَّثَنَا أَصْبَغُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، وَأَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ عُمَرَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، إِذَا حَدَّثَكَ شَيْئًا سَعْدٌ عَنِ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَا تَسْأَلْ عَنْهُ غَيْرَهُ ، وَقَالَ مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو النَّضْرِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنّ سَعْدًا حَدَّثَهُ ، فَقَالَ : عُمَرُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ نَحْوَهُ .

ہم سے اصبغ ابن الفرج نے بیان کیا، وہ ابن وہب سے کرتے ہیں، کہا مجھ سے عمرو نے بیان کیا، کہا مجھ سے ابوالنضر نے ابوسلمہ بن عبدالرحمٰن کے واسطے سے نقل کیا، وہ عبداللہ بن عمر سے، وہ سعد بن ابی وقاص سے، وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے نقل کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے موزوں پر مسح کیا۔ عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما نے اپنے والد ماجد عمر رضی اللہ عنہ سے اس کے بارے میں پوچھا تو انہوں نے کہا ( سچ ہے اور یاد رکھو ) جب تم سے سعد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی کوئی حدیث بیان فرمائیں۔ تو اس کے متعلق ان کے سوا ( کسی ) دوسرے آدمی سے مت پوچھو اور موسیٰ بن عقبہ کہتے ہیں کہ مجھے ابوالنضر نے بتلایا، انہیں ابوسلمہ نے خبر دی کہ سعد بن ابی وقاص نے ان سے ( رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی یہ ) حدیث بیان کی۔ پھر عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے ( اپنے بیٹے ) عبداللہ سے ایسا کہا۔

Narrated Al-Mughira bin Shu`ba: Once Allah's Apostle went out to answer the call of nature and I followed him with a tumbler containing water, and when he finished, I poured water and he performed ablution and passed wet hands over his Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather).

Narrated Ja`far bin `Amr bin Umaiya Ad-Damri: My father said, I saw the Prophet passing wet hands over his Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather).

Narrated Ja`far bin `Amr: My father said, I saw the Prophet passing wet hands over his turban and Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather).

Narrated `Urwa bin Al-Mughira: My father said, Once I was in the company of the Prophet on a journey and I dashed to take off his Khuffs (socks made from thick fabric or leather). He ordered me to leave them as he had put them after performing ablution. So he passed wet hands over them.

Narrated `Abdullah bin `Abbas: Allah's Apostle ate a piece of cooked mutton from the shoulder region and prayed without repeating ablution.

Narrated Ja`far bin `Amr bin Umaiya: My father said, I saw Allah's Apostle taking a piece of (cooked) mutton from the shoulder region and then he was called for prayer. He put his knife down and prayed without repeating ablution.
