Ibn Abbas narrated: The Messenger of Allah only performed the Sa'i of the House and of As-Safa and Al-Marwah to show his strength to the idolaters.

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّمَا سَعَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْبَيْتِ وَبَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ لِيُرِيَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ قُوَّتَهُ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَابِرٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ الَّذِي يَسْتَحِبُّهُ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ يَسْعَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْعَ وَمَشَى بَيْنَ الصَّفَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْمَرْوَةِ رَأَوْهُ جَائِزًا.

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی الله عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بیت اللہ کا طواف کیا اور صفا اور مروہ کے درمیان سعی کی، تاکہ مشرکین کو اپنی قوت دکھا سکیں۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابن عباس رضی الله عنہما کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عائشہ، ابن عمر اور جابر رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اہل علم اسی کو مستحب سمجھتے ہیں کہ آدمی صفا و مروہ کے درمیان سعی کرے، اگر وہ سعی نہ کرے بلکہ صفا و مروہ کے درمیان عام چال چلے تو اسے جائز سمجھتے ہیں۔

Kathir bin Jumhan said: I saw Ibn Umar walking at the place of Sa'i so I said to him: 'Do you walk at the place of Sa'i between As-Safa and Al-Marwah?' He said: 'If I performed Sa'i, then it is because I saw the Messenger of Allah performing Sa'i there, and if I walked, then it is because I have seen the Messenger of Allah walking. And I am an old man.'

Ibn Abbas narrated: The Prophet performed Tawaf upon his mount, so when he arrived at the (Black Stone) corner, he pointed to it.

Jubair bin Mut'im narrated that : the Prophet said: O Banu Abd Manaf! Do not prevent anyone from performing Tawaf around this House, and Salat, whichever hour it is of the night or day.

Jabir bin Abdullah narrated: During the two Rak'ah of Tawaf, the Messenger of Allah recited the two Surat of Ikhlas, Say: O you disbelievers! and: Say: He is Allah, (the) One.
