Anas bin Malik narrated that : the Messenger of Allah said: Whoever has dried dates, then let him break the fast with that, and whoever does not, then let him break the fast with water, for indeed water is purifying.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ وَجَدَ تَمْرًا فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَيْهِ وَمَنْ لَا فَلْيُفْطِرْ عَلَى مَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّ الْمَاءَ طَهُورٌ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَنَسٍ لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا رَوَاهُ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ مِثْلَ هَذَا غَيْرَ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ حَدِيثٌ غَيْرُ مَحْفُوظٍ وَلَا نَعْلَمُ لَهُ أَصْلًا مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ صُهَيْبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رَوَى أَصْحَابُ شُعْبَةَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الرَّبَاب، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ أَصَحُّ مِنْ حَدِيثِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهَكَذَا رَوَوْا عَنْ شُعُبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَلْمَانَ وَلَمْ يُذْكَرْ فِيهِ شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الرَّبَاب، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالصَّحِيحُ مَا رَوَاهُ. وَابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ وغير واحد، ‏‏‏‏‏‏سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحَوَلِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الرَّبَاب، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَابْنُ عَوْنٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أُمِّ الرَّائِحِ بِنْتِ صُلَيْعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَلْمَانَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالرَّبَاب هي أم الرائح.

انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جسے کھجور میسر ہو، تو چاہیئے کہ وہ اسی سے روزہ کھولے، اور جسے کھجور میسر نہ ہو تو چاہیئے کہ وہ پانی سے کھولے کیونکہ پانی پاکیزہ چیز ہے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- اس باب میں سلمان بن عامر رضی الله عنہ سے بھی روایت ہے، ۲- ہم نہیں جانتے کہ انس کی حدیث سعید بن عامر کے علاوہ کسی اور نے بھی شعبہ سے روایت کی ہے، یہ حدیث غیر محفوظ ہے ۱؎، ہم اس کی کوئی اصل عبدالعزیز کی روایت سے جسے انہوں نے انس سے روایت کی ہو نہیں جانتے، اور شعبہ کے شاگردوں نے یہ حدیث بطریق: «شعبة عن عاصم الأحول عن حفصة بنت سيرين عن الرباب عن سلمان بن عامر عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم» روایت کی ہے، اور یہ سعید بن عامر کی روایت سے زیادہ صحیح ہے، کچھ اور لوگوں نے اس کی بطریق: «شعبة عن عاصم عن حفصة بنت سيرين عن سلمان» روایت کی ہے اور اس میں شعبہ کی رباب سے روایت کرنے کا ذکر نہیں کیا گیا ہے اور صحیح وہ ہے جسے سفیان ثوری، ابن عیینہ اور دیگر کئی لوگوں نے بطریق: «عاصم الأحول عن حفصة بنت سيرين عن الرباب عن سلمان بن عامر» روایت کی ہے، اور ابن عون کہتے ہیں: «عن أم الرائح بنت صليع عن سلمان بن عامر» اور رباب ہی دراصل ام الرائح ہیں ۲؎۔

Salman bin Amir Ad-Dabbi narrated that : the Prophet said: When one of you breaks his fast, then let him do so with dried dates. And whoever does not find dates, then water, for it is purifying.

Anas bin Malik narrated: The Messenger of Allah would break the fast with fresh dates before performing Salat. If there were no fresh dates then (he would break the fast) with dried dates, and if there were no dried dates then he would take a few sips of water.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Prophet said: The fast is the day the people fast, the breaking of the fast is the day the people break their fast, and the sacrifice is the day the people sacrifice.

Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated that: The Messenger of Allah said: When the night advances and the day retreats, and the sun is hidden, then the fast is to be broken.

Abu Hurairah narrated that : the Messenger of Allah said: Allah, Mighty and Sublime is He, said: 'Those of My worshippers who are most beloved to me are the quickest to break their fast.'
