Narrated 'Umar bin Abi Salamah - the step-son of the Prophet (ﷺ): When these Ayat were revealed to the Prophet (ﷺ): 'Allah only wishes to remove the Rijs from you, O members of the family, and to purify you with a thorough purification...' (33:33) in the home of Umm Salamah, he called for Fatimah, Hasan, Husain, and wrapped him in the cloak, then he said: 'O Allah! These are the people of my house, so remove the Rijs from them, and purify them with a thorough purification.' So Umm Salamah said: 'And am I with them O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'You are in your place, and you are more virtuous to me.'

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ رَبِيبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا سورة الأحزاب آية 33 فِي بَيْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَعَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاطِمَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَحَسَنًا،‏‏‏‏ وَحُسَيْنًا فَجَلَّلَهُمْ بِكِسَاءٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَلِيٌّ خَلْفَ ظَهْرِهِ فَجَلَّلَهُ بِكِسَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ هَؤُلَاءِ أَهْلُ بَيْتِي فَأَذْهِبْ عَنْهُمُ الرِّجْسَ وَطَهِّرْهُمْ تَطْهِيرًا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ:‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَا مَعَهُمْ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْتِ عَلَى مَكَانِكِ وَأَنْتِ إِلَى خَيْرٍ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَبِي الْحَمْرَاءِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَأَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَهَذَا غَرِيبٌ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ.

نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے «ربيب» (پروردہ) عمر بن ابی سلمہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ جب آیت کریمہ «إنما يريد الله ليذهب عنكم الرجس أهل البيت ويطهركم تطهيرا» ”اے اہل بیت النبوۃ! اللہ چاہتا ہے کہ تم سے ( کفر و شرک ) کی گندگی دور کر دے، اور تمہاری خوب تطہیر کر دے“ ( الاحزاب: ۳۳ ) ، نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پر ام سلمہ رضی الله عنہا کے گھر میں اتریں تو آپ نے فاطمہ اور حسن و حسین رضی الله عنہم کو بلایا اور آپ نے انہیں ایک چادر میں ڈھانپ لیا اور علی رضی الله عنہ آپ کی پشت مبارک کے پیچھے تھے تو آپ نے انہیں بھی چادر میں چھپا لیا، پھر فرمایا: «اللهم هؤلاء أهل بيتي فأذهب عنهم الرجس وطهرهم تطهيرا» ”اے اللہ! یہ میرے اہل بیت ہیں تو ان کی ناپاکی کو دور فرما دے اور انہیں اچھی طرح پاک کر دے“، ام سلمہ نے عرض کیا: اللہ کے نبی! میں بھی انہیں کے ساتھ ہوں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”تو اپنی جگہ پر رہ اور تو بھی نیکی پر ہے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث اس سند سے غریب ہے، ۲- اس باب میں ام سلمہ، معقل بن یسار، ابوحمراء اور انس رضی الله عنہم سے احادیث آئی ہیں۔

Narrated Zaid bin Arqam, may Allah be pleased with both of them: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Indeed, I am leaving among you, that which if you hold fast to them, you shall not be misguided after me. One of them is greater than the other: The Book of Allah is a rope extended from the sky to the earth, and my family - the people of my house - and they shall not split until they meet at the Hawd, so look at how you deal with them after me.

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Love Allah for what He nourishes you with of His Blessings, love me due to the love of Allah, and love the people of my house due to love of me.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: The most merciful of my nation to my nation is Abu Bakr, and the most severe of them concerning the order of Allah is 'Umar, and the most truly modest of them is 'Uthman bin 'Affan. The most knowledgeable of them concerning the lawful and unlawful is Mu'adh Bin Jabal, the most knowledgeable of them concerning (the laws of) inheritance is Zaid bin Thabit, the best reciter (of the Qur'an) among them is Ubayy bin Ka'b, and every nation has a trustworthy one, and the trustworthy one of this nation is Abu 'Ubaidah Bin Al-Jarrah.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to Ubayy bin Ka'b: Indeed Allah ordered me to recite to you: Those who disbelieve were not going to... (98:1) He said: And He named me? He said: Yes. So he wept.

Narrated Ubayy bin Ka'b: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: Indeed, Allah ordered me to recite to you, so he recited in it: Those who disbelieve from amongst the Book were not going to...' (And he) also recited in it, Indeed, the religion with Allah is Al-Hanafiyyah, the Muslim, not Judaism, nor Christianity, whoever does good, it shall not be rejected from him. And he recited to him: And if the son of Adam had a valley-full of wealth, he would seek a second, and if he had a second, he would seek a third, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except for dirt. And Allah pardons those who repent.
