Narrated Al-Ja'd bin Abi 'Uthman: from Anas bin Malik: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) got married, and he went in with his wife. He said: So my mother, Umm Sulaim prepared some Hais in a Tawr (a vessel made of brass and stone) and said: 'O Anas! Take this to the Prophet (ﷺ).' I said to him: 'My mother sent this to you, and she conveys her Salam, and says: 'This is a little something from us for you.' He said: 'Put it down.' Then he said: 'Go and invite so-and-so, so-and-so, and so-and-so for me, and whomever you meet.' He named some people, and said: I invited those he named, and whomever I met. - He (Al-Ja'd) said: I said to Anas: 'How many of you were there?' He said: 'Roughly about three-hundred.' - He (Anas) said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: 'O Anas! Bring me the Tawr.' He said: They entered until the Suffah (a shaded part of the Masjid in Al-Madinah) and the apartment were full. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Let groups of ten in, and let each person eat what is near him.' He said: They ate until they were full. He said: A group exited, and another group entered, until all of them ate.' He said: He said to me: 'O Anas! Remove it.' He said: So I took it. I could not tell if there was more when I first put it down, or when I picked it up. He said: Groups of them sat talking in the house of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), while the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and his wife sat facing the wall. They began to be burdensome on the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out to greet his women folk, then he returned, they realized that they had overburdened him, so they hastened for the gate and all of them exited. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came until he lowered the curtain, and entered while I was sitting in the apartment. He did not remain there long before he left me, and these Ayat were revealed. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out to recite them to the people: 'O you who believe! Do not enter the Prophet's house unless permission is given to you for a meal, not to wait for its preparation. But when you are invited, enter, and when you have taken your meals, dispense without sitting for a talk. Verily, such annoys the Prophet...' till the end of the Ayah (33:53)' Al-Ja'd said: Anas said: 'I am the earliest of the people to encounter these Ayat, and to be screened from the wives of the Prophet (ﷺ).

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الضُّبَعِيُّ، عَنِ الْجَعْدِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدَخَلَ بِأَهْلِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَصَنَعَتْ أُمِّي أُمُّ سُلَيْمٍ حَيْسًا فَجَعَلَتْهُ فِي تَوْرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَتْ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَنَسُ اذْهَبْ بِهَذَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ بَعَثَتْ إِلَيْكَ بِهَا أُمِّي وَهِيَ تُقْرِئُكَ السَّلَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ هَذَا لَكَ مِنَّا قَلِيلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَذَهَبْتُ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُقْرِئُكَ السَّلَامَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَتَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ هَذَا مِنَّا لَكَ قَلِيلٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ضَعْهُ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اذْهَبْ فَادْعُ لِي فُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا وَفُلَانًا وَمَنْ لَقِيتَ فَسَمَّى رِجَالًا ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَدَعَوْتُ مَنْ سَمَّى وَمَنْ لَقِيتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قُلْتُ لِأَنَسٍ عَدَدُ كَمْ كَانُوا ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ زُهَاءَ ثَلَاثِ مِائَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَنَسُ هَاتِ التَّوْرَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَدَخَلُوا حَتَّى امْتَلَأَتْ الصُّفَّةُ وَالْحُجْرَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لِيَتَحَلَّقْ عَشَرَةٌ عَشَرَةٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلْيَأْكُلْ كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ مِمَّا يَلِيهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَأَكَلُوا حَتَّى شَبِعُوا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَخَرَجَتْ طَائِفَةٌ وَدَخَلَتْ طَائِفَةٌ حَتَّى أَكَلُوا كُلُّهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ لِي:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَنَسُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ارْفَعْ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَرَفَعْتُ فَمَا أَدْرِي حِينَ وَضَعْتُ كَانَ أَكْثَرَ أَمْ حِينَ رَفَعْتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَجَلَسَ مِنْهُمْ طَوَائِفُ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ فِي بَيْتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَالِسٌ وَزَوْجَتُهُ مُوَلِّيَةٌ وَجْهَهَا إِلَى الْحَائِطِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَثَقُلُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ رَجَعَ ظَنُّوا أَنَّهُمْ قَدْ ثَقُلُوا عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَابْتَدَرُوا الْبَابَ فَخَرَجُوا كُلُّهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى أَرْخَى السِّتْرَ وَدَخَلَ وَأَنَا جَالِسٌ فِي الْحُجْرَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمْ يَلْبَثْ إِلَّا يَسِيرًا حَتَّى خَرَجَ عَلَيَّ وَأُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَاتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَرَأَهُنَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ:‏‏‏‏ يَأَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتَ النَّبِيِّ إِلا أَنْ يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نَاظِرِينَ إِنَاهُ وَلَكِنْ إِذَا دُعِيتُمْ فَادْخُلُوا فَإِذَا طَعِمْتُمْ فَانْتَشِرُوا وَلا مُسْتَأْنِسِينَ لِحَدِيثٍ إِنَّ ذَلِكُمْ كَانَ يُؤْذِي النَّبِيَّ سورة الأحزاب آية 53 إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ الْجَعْدُ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ أَنَسٌ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا أَحْدَثُ النَّاسِ عَهْدًا بِهَذِهِ الْآيَاتِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَحُجِبْنَ نِسَاءُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَالْجَعْدُ هُوَ ابْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُقَالُ:‏‏‏‏ هُوَ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُكْنَى أَبَا عُثْمَانَ بَصْرِيٌّ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْحَدِيثِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏رَوَى عَنْهُ يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَشُعْبَةُ وَحَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ.

انس بن مالک رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نکاح کیا اور اپنی بیوی ( زینب بنت جحش رضی الله عنہا ) کے پاس تشریف لے گئے، اس موقع پر میری ماں ام سلیم رضی الله عنہا نے حیس ۱؎ تیار کیا، اسے ایک چھوٹے برتن میں رکھا، پھر ( مجھ سے ) کہا: ( بیٹے ) انس! اسے لے کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس جاؤ اور آپ سے کہو: اسے میری امی جان نے آپ کے پاس بھیجا ہے اور انہوں نے آپ کو سلام عرض کیا ہے اور کہا ہے کہ یہ تھوڑا سا ہدیہ میری طرف سے آپ کی خدمت میں پیش ہے، اللہ کے رسول! میں اسے لے کر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس گیا، میں نے عرض کیا: میری امی جان آپ کو سلام کہتی ہیں اور کہتی ہیں: یہ میری طرف سے آپ کے لیے تھوڑا سا ہدیہ ہے۔ آپ نے فرمایا: ”اسے رکھ دو“، پھر فرمایا: ”جاؤ فلاں فلاں، اور فلاں کچھ لوگوں کے نام لیے اور جو بھی تمہیں ملے سب کو میرے پاس بلا کر لے آؤ“، انس کہتے ہیں: جن کے نام آپ نے لیے تھے انہیں اور جو بھی مجھے آتے جاتے ملا اسے بلا لیا، راوی جعد بن عثمان کہتے ہیں: میں نے انس رضی الله عنہ سے پوچھا: کتنے لوگ رہے ہوں گے؟ انہوں نے کہا: تقریباً تین سو، انس رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں: پھر مجھ سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”انس «تَور» پیالہ لے آؤ“۔ انس کہتے ہیں: لوگ اندر آئے یہاں تک کہ صفہ ( چبوترہ ) اور کمرہ سب بھر گیا، آپ نے فرمایا: ”دس دس افراد کی ٹولی بنا لو اور ہر شخص اپنے قریب سے کھائے“، لوگوں نے پیٹ بھر کر کھایا، ایک ٹولی ( کھا کر ) باہر جاتی اور دوسری ٹولی ( کھانے کے لیے ) اندر آ جاتی اس طرح سبھی نے کھا لیا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھ سے کہا: ”انس: اب ( برتن ) اٹھا لو“۔ میں نے ( پیالہ ) اٹھا لیا، مگر ( صحیح صحیح ) بتا نہ پاؤں گا کہ جب میں نے پیالہ لا کر رکھا تھا تب اس میں حیس زیادہ تھا یا جب اٹھایا تھا تب؟ کچھ لوگ کھانے سے فارغ ہو کر آپ کے گھر میں بیٹھ کر آپس میں باتیں کرنے لگ گئے۔ ( انہوں نے کچھ بھی خیال نہ کیا کہ ) رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم تشریف فرما ہیں اور آپ کی اہلیہ محترمہ دیوار کی طرف منہ پھیرے بیٹھی ہیں، وہ لوگ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم پر بوجھ بن گئے، آپ وہاں سے اٹھ کر اپنی دوسری بیویوں کی طرف چلے گئے اور انہیں سلام کیا ( مزاج پرسی کی ) اور پھر لوٹ آئے، جب لوگوں نے دیکھا کہ آپ لوٹ آئے ہیں تو انہیں احساس و گمان ہوا کہ وہ لوگ آپ کے لیے باعث اذیت بن گئے ہیں، تو وہ لوگ تیزی سے دروازہ کی طرف بڑھے اور سب کے سب باہر نکل گئے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم آئے دروازہ کا پردہ گرا دیا اور خود اندر چلے گئے، میں کمرے میں بیٹھا ہوا تھا۔ تھوڑی ہی دیر بعد رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم میرے پاس تشریف لائے اور آپ پر یہ آیتیں اتریں پھر آپ نے باہر آ کر لوگوں کو یہ آیتیں «يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تدخلوا بيوت النبي إلا أن يؤذن لكم إلى طعام غير ناظرين إناه ولكن إذا دعيتم فادخلوا فإذا طعمتم فانتشروا ولا مستأنسين لحديث إن ذلكم كان يؤذي النبي» ”اے ایمان والو! جب تک تمہیں اجازت نہ دی جائے تم نبی کے گھروں میں نہ جایا کرو کھانے کے لیے ایسے وقت میں کہ اس کے پکنے کا انتظار کرتے رہو، بلکہ جب بلایا جائے تب جاؤ اور جب کھا چکو نکل کھڑے ہو، وہیں باتوں میں مشغول نہ ہو جایا کرو، نبی کو تمہاری اس بات سے تکلیف ہوتی ہے“ ( الاحزاب: ۵۳ ) ، آخر تک پڑھ کر سنائیں۔ میں ان آیات سے سب سے پہلا واقف ہونے والا ہوں، اور اسی وقت سے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی بیویاں پردہ کرنے لگیں۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- جعد: عثمان کے بیٹے ہیں، اور یہ بھی کہا جاتا ہے کہ یہ دینار کے بیٹے ہیں اور ان کی کنیت ابوعثمان بصریٰ ہے، اور یہ محدثین کے نزدیک ثقہ ( قوی ) ہیں، ان سے یونس بن عبید، شعبہ اور حماد بن زید نے روایت کی ہے۔

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was staying with one of his wives, so he sent me to invite people for a meal. When they ate and left, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood and went off in the direction of 'Aishah's house. He saw two men (still) sitting, so he turned to come back, then the two men stood up to leave. So Allah [the Mighty and Sublime] revealed: 'O you who believe! Do not enter the Prophet's house unless permission is given to you for a meal, not to wait for its preparation (33:53). And there is a long story with the narration.

Narrated Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to us while we were sitting in a gathering of Sa'd bin 'Ubadah. Bashir bin Sa'd said: 'Allah ordered us to say Salat upon you, so how do we say Salat upon you?' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was silent, until we thought that we had not even asked him. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Say: O Allah! Send Salat upon Muhammad and upon Muhammad's family just as you have sent [upon Ibrahim and] upon Ibrahim's family. And bless Muhammad and Muhammad's family just as you have blessed [Ibrahim and] Ibrahim's family among the nations. Indeed you are praised, the glorious.' And the Salam is as you have learned.'

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Verily Musa, peace be upon him, was a shy and modest man, who would never show anything of his skin out of modesty. Some of the Children of Isra'il annoyed him by saying: 'He only keeps himself covered because of some defect in his skin, either leprosy, a scrotal hernia or some other defect.' Allah [the Mighty and Sublime] wanted to free Musa from what they were saying about him. One day Musa, [peace be upon him], was alone. He took off his garment, and put it on a rock, then he took a bath. When he had finished, he turned back to pick up his garment, but the rock moved away, taking his garment with it. Musa picked up his staff, and chased the rock saying: 'My garment, O you rock! My garment, O you rock!' Until he reached a group of the Children of Isra'il who saw him naked, and discovered that he was the best of those whom Allah had created. He said: The rock stood still, he took his garment and put it on. He started striking the rock with his staff, and by Allah, the marks of that beating were left on the rock; three, four, or five. This is what is referred to in the Ayah: ' O you who believe! Be not like those who annoyed Musa, but Allah freed him from what they had alleged, and he was honourable before Allah (33:69).'

Narrated Farwah bin Musaik Al-Muradi: I went to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Shall I not fight those who turn away among my people, along with those who believe? So he permitted me to fight them and made me their commander.' When I left him, he asked me, saying: 'What has Al-Ghutaifi done?' He was informed that I set off on my journey. He said: So he sent a message on my route that I should return. I went to him and he was with a group of his Companions. He said: 'Invite your people. Whoever accepts Islam among them then accept it from him. And whoever does not accept Islam, then do not be hasty until new news reaches you.' He said: And what was revealed about Saba was revealed, so a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah! What is Saba; is it a land or a woman?' He said: 'It is neither a land nor a woman, but it is a man who had ten sons among the Arabs. Six of them went south (in Yemen) and four of them went north (toward Ash-Sham). As for those who went north, they are Lakhm, Judham, Ghassan and 'Amilah. As for those who sent south, they are Azad, Al-'Ash'ariyyun, Himyar, Kindah, Madhhij, and Anmar.' A man said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Who are Anmar?' He said: 'Those among whom are Khath'am and Bajilah.' [This Hadith has been related from Ibn 'Abbas from the Prophet (ﷺ)].

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: When Allah decrees a matter in the Heavens, the angels beat their wings in submission to His saying, (sounding) as if it is a chain (being dragged) upon a rock. When the fear resides from their hearts, they say (to each other): 'What did your Lord say?' They reply: 'The truth, and He is the Most High the Great (34:23).' He said: 'And the Shayatin are one atop another.'

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: We were with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), while he was sitting with a group of his Companions, when they saw a glowing shooting star. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'When you saw the likes of this during Jahiliyyah, what would you say about it?' They said: 'We would say that a great man died, or that a great man has been born.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'It is not shot due to the death of anyone, nor his coming into life. Rather when our Lord [Blessed is His Name and Most High] decrees a matter, He is glorified by the bearers of the Throne. Then He is glorified by the inhabitants who are below them, then those below them, until such glorification reaches this Heaven. Then the inhabitants of the sixth Heaven ask the inhabitants of the seventh Heaven: What did your Lord say? He said: 'So they inform them; then the inhabitants of each Heaven seek the information, until the news is conveyed to the inhabitants of the Heavens of the earth. The Shayatin try to overhear so they are shot at, so they cast it down to their friends. Whatever they came with is true, as it is, but they distort it and add to it.'
