Narrated Muslim bin Yasar Al-Juhani: that 'Umar bin Al-Khattab was asked about this Ayah: And when your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed and made them testify as to themselves: Am I not your Lord? They said: Yes! We testify, lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: 'Verily, we have been unaware of this (7:172).' So 'Umar bin Al-Khattab said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) being asked about it. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Indeed Allah created Adam, then He wiped his back with His Right Hand, and his offspring came out of him. So he said: I created these for Paradise, and they will do the deeds of the people of Paradise. Then He wiped his back, and his offspring came out of him. So He said: I created these for the Fire, and they will do the deeds of the people of the Fire. A man said: 'Then of what good is doing deeds O Messenger of Allah!' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Verily, when Allah created a man for Paradise, He makes him perform the deeds of the people of Paradise, until he dies doing one of the deeds of the people of Paradise. So Allah will admit him into Paradise. And when He created a man for the Fire, He makes him perform the deeds of the people of the Fire until he dies doing the deeds of the people of the Fire. So Allah will enter him into the Fire.'

حَدَّثَنَا الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ ابْنِ أَبِي أُنَيْسَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ سُئِلَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ وَإِذْ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُوا بَلَى شَهِدْنَا أَنْ تَقُولُوا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَذَا غَافِلِينَ سورة الأعراف آية 172، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُسْأَلُ عَنْهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ خَلَقَ آدَمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ مَسَحَ ظَهْرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَاسْتَخْرَجَ مِنْهُ ذُرِّيَّةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ خَلَقْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ لِلْجَنَّةِ وَبِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ يَعْمَلُونَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ مَسَحَ ظَهْرَهُ فَاسْتَخْرَجَ مِنْهُ ذُرِّيَّةً، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ خَلَقْتُ هَؤُلَاءِ لِلنَّارِ وَبِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ يَعْمَلُونَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اللَّهِ فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ ؟ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ اللَّهَ إِذَا خَلَقَ الْعَبْدَ لِلْجَنَّةِ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ عَلَى عَمَلٍ مِنْ أَعْمَالِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَيُدْخِلَهُ اللَّهُ الْجَنَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِذَا خَلَقَ الْعَبْدَ لِلنَّارِ اسْتَعْمَلَهُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ حَتَّى يَمُوتَ عَلَى عَمَلٍ مِنْ أَعْمَالِ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَيُدْخِلَهُ اللَّهُ النَّارَ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُسْلِمُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ لَمْ يَسْمَعْ مِنْ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ ذَكَرَ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي هَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ بَيْنَ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ وَبَيْنَ عُمَرَ رَجُلًا مَجْهُولًا.

مسلم بن یسار جہنی سے روایت ہے کہ عمر بن خطاب رضی الله عنہ سے آیت «وإذ أخذ ربك من بني آدم من ظهورهم ذريتهم وأشهدهم على أنفسهم ألست بربكم قالوا بلى شهدنا أن تقولوا يوم القيامة إنا كنا عن هذا غافلين» ۱؎ کا مطلب پوچھا گیا، تو عمر بن خطاب رضی الله عنہ نے کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سنا آپ سے اسی آیت کے بارے میں پوچھا گیا تھا تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”اللہ نے آدم کو پیدا کیا پھر اپنا داہنا ہاتھ ان کی پیٹھ پر پھیرا اور ان کی ایک ذریت ( نسل ) کو نکالا، اور کہا: میں نے انہیں جنت کے لیے پیدا کیا ہے اور یہ لوگ جنت ہی کا کام کریں گے، پھر ( دوبارہ ) ان کی پیٹھ پر ہاتھ پھیرا اور وہاں سے ایک ذریت ( ایک نسل ) نکالی اور کہا کہ میں نے انہیں جہنم کے لیے پیدا کیا ہے اور جہنمیوں کا کام کریں گے“۔ ایک شخص نے کہا: پھر عمل کی کیا ضرورت ہے؟ اللہ کے رسول! ۲؎ راوی کہتے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جب اللہ جنتی شخص کو پیدا کرتا ہے تو اسے جنتیوں کے کام میں لگا دیتا ہے یہاں تک کہ وہ جنتیوں کا کام کرتا ہوا مر جاتا ہے تو اللہ اسے جنت میں داخل فرما دیتا ہے۔ اور جب اللہ جہنمی شخص کو پیدا کرتا ہے تو اسے جہنمیوں کے کام میں لگا دیتا ہے، یہاں تک کہ وہ جہنمیوں کا کام کرتا ہوا مرتا ہے تو اللہ اسے جہنم میں داخل کر دیتا ہے“۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن ہے، ۲- مسلم بن یسار نے عمر رضی الله عنہ سے سنا نہیں ہے، ۳- بعض راویوں نے اس اسناد میں مسلم بن یسار اور عمر رضی الله عنہ کے درمیان کسی غیر معروف راوی کا ذکر کیا ہے۔

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When Allah created Adam He wiped his back and every person that He created among his offspring until the Day of Resurrection fell out of his back. He placed a ray of light between the eyes of every person. Then He showed them to Adam and he said: 'O Lord! Who are these people?' He said: 'These are your offspring.' He saw one of them whose ray between his eyes amazed him, so he said: 'O Lord! Who is this?' He said: 'This is a man from the latter nations of your offspring called Dawud.' He said: 'Lord! How long did You make his lifespan?' He said: 'Sixty years.' He said: 'O Lord! Add forty years from my life to his.' So at the end of Adam's life, the Angel of death of came to him, and he said: 'Do I not have forty years remaining?' He said: 'Did you not give them to your son Dawud?' He said: Adam denied, so his offspring denied, and Adam forgot and his offspring forgot, and Adam sinned, so his offspring sinned.

Narrated Samurah bin Jundab: that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: When Hawwa became pregnant, Iblis came to her - and her children would not live (after birth) - so he said: 'Name him 'Abdul-Harith.' So she named him 'Abdul-Harith and he lived. So that is among the inspirations of Ash-Shaitan and his commands.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When Allah created Adam (and he mentioned) the Hadith (#3076).

Narrated Mus'ab bin Sa'd: from his father who said: On the Day of Badr I brought a sword so I said: 'O Messenger of Allah! Indeed Allah has satisfied my breast (i.e. my desire) on the idolaters - or something like that - give me this sword.' So he said: 'This is not for me, nor is it for you.' I said: 'Perhaps he will give this to someone who did not go through some struggle I went through (fighting).' So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to me [and he said:] 'You asked me, but it was not up to me. But now it has occurred that it is up to me, so it is yours.' He said: So (the following) was revealed: They ask you about the spoils of war (8:1).

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was finished at Badr, it was said to him: 'You have to get the caravan, you can not settle for less than that.' Al-'Abbas called out while he was bound up: 'There is no use.' He said: 'For Allah, Most High, has promised you one of the two parties, and He gave you what He promised you.' He said: 'He has said the truth.'

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: from 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, who said: The Prophet (ﷺ) looked over the idolaters, and there were a thousand of them, while his Companions were three-hundred and ten and some odd number of men. So the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) faced the Qiblah, stretched forth his hands and began beseeching his Lord: 'O Allah! Fulfill what You promised for me. [O Allah! Bring about what You promised for me] O Allah! If you destroy this band of adherents to Islam, you will not be worshiped upon the earth,' He continued beseeching his Lord with his hands stretched, facing the Qiblah until his Rida fell from his shoulders. Abu Bakr came to him, took his Rida and placed it back upon his shoulders, then embraced him from behind and said: 'O Prophet of Allah! You have sufficiently beseeched your Lord, indeed He shall fulfill what He promised you.' So Allah, Blessed and Most High, revealed: When you sought help of your Lord and He answered you (saying): 'I will help you with a thousand of the angels in succession (8:9).'
