Abbas bin Sahl [bin Sa'd] narrated: Abu Humaid, Abu Usaid, Sahl bin Sa'd, and Muhammad bin Maslamah were once together and they were mentioning the Salat of Allah's Messenger. Abu Humaid said: 'I am the most knowledgeable among you of the Salat of Allah's Messenger: Allah's Messenger would bow and place his hands on his knees as if he was grasping them, and he would draw his forearms to hold them away from his sides.'
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ بُنْدَارٌ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اجْتَمَعَ أَبُو حُمَيْدٍ وَأَبُو أُسَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَهْلُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ 63، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرُوا صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ أَبُو حُمَيْدٍ:‏‏‏‏ أَنَا أَعْلَمُكُمْ بِصَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكَعَ فَوَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ كَأَنَّهُ قَابِضٌ عَلَيْهِمَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَوَتَّرَ يَدَيْهِ فَنَحَّاهُمَا عَنْ جَنْبَيْهِ . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَبِي حُمَيْدٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَهُوَ الَّذِي اخْتَارَهُ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ يُجَافِيَ الرَّجُلُ يَدَيْهِ عَنْ جَنْبَيْهِ فِي الرُّكُوعِ وَالسُّجُودِ.
عباس بن سہل بن سعد کا بیان ہے کہ   ابوحمید، ابواسید، سہل بن سعد، اور محمد بن مسلمہ ( رضی الله عنہم ) چاروں اکٹھا ہوئے تو ان لوگوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی نماز کا ذکر کیا، ابوحمید رضی الله عنہ نے کہا: میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی نماز کو تم میں سب سے زیادہ جانتا ہوں: آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے رکوع کیا تو اپنے دونوں ہاتھ اپنے دونوں گھٹنوں پر رکھے گویا آپ انہیں پکڑے ہوئے ہیں، اور آپ نے اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں کو کمان کی تانت کی طرح ( ٹائٹ ) بنایا اور انہیں اپنے دونوں پہلوؤں سے جدا رکھا۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابوحمید کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں انس رضی الله عنہ سے بھی روایت ہے، ۳- اسی کو اہل علم نے اختیار کیا ہے کہ آدمی رکوع اور سجدے میں اپنے دونوں ہاتھوں کو اپنے دونوں پہلوؤں سے جدا رکھے۔

Ibn Mas'ud narrated that : the Prophet said: When one of you bows then says while he is bowing: (Subhana Rabbiyal Azim) 'Glorious is my Lord the Magnificent' three times, then he has completed his bowing. And that is the least of it. And when he prostrates and says while prostrating: (Subhana Rabbiyal A'la) 'Glorious is my Lord the Most High' three times, then he has completed his prostrations, and that is the least of it.'

Hudhaifah narrated that : he performed Salat with the Prophet, and that while he was bowing he would say: (Subhana Rabbiyal Azim); Glorious is my Lord the Magnificent and while prostrating: (Subhana Rabbiyal A'la) 'Glorious is my Lord the Most High.' And he would not recite an Ayah mentioning mercy, except that he would stop and ask (for mercy), and he would not recite an Ayah mentioning punishment, except that he would stop and seek refuge (with Allah from it).

Rabba na lakal-hamd, mil'as-samawati wa mil'al-ardi wa mil'a ma bainahuma wa mil'a ma shi'ia min shay'in ba'd) 'Allah listens to those who praise Him. O our Lord! And to You is the praise that fills the heavens and fills the earth, and fills what is between them, and fills whatever there is beyond that You will.' He said: There are narrations on this topic from Ibn Umar, Ibn Abbas, Ibn Abi Awfa, Abu Juhaifa, and Abu Sa'eed.
