Abdur-Rahman bin Abi Bakrah narrated from his father that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: Shall I not inform you of the greatest of the major sins? They said: Of course O Messenger of Allah(s.a.w)! He said: Shirk with Allah disobeying parents, and false testimony. Or: False speech He said: So the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) would not stop saying it until we said ( to ourselves): 'I wish he would be quiet.

حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ، عَنِ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ بِأَكْبَرِ الْكَبَائِرِ ؟ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَشَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ قَوْلُ الزُّورِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَمَا زَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو.

ابوبکرہ رضی الله عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کیا تمہیں بڑے بڑے ( کبیرہ ) گناہوں کے بارے میں نہ بتا دوں؟“ صحابہ نے عرض کیا: کیوں نہیں؟ اللہ کے رسول! آپ نے فرمایا: ”اللہ کے ساتھ شرک کرنا، ماں باپ کی نافرمانی کرنا اور جھوٹی گواہی دینا یا جھوٹی بات بولنا“، ابوبکرہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم آخری بات کو برابر دہراتے رہے یہاں تک کہ ہم لوگوں نے دل میں کہا: کاش! آپ خاموش ہو جاتے۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی الله عنہما سے بھی حدیث آئی ہے۔

Imran bin Husain narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w)said: The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them,then those who follow them, then those who follow them. (He(s.a.w)said that) three times. Then, after them a people will come who increase in fatness, loving fatness, giving testimony before they are asked for it.

Clarification of this is in the Hadith of 'Umar bin Al-Khattab, from the Prophet(s.a.w) who said: The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them,then those who follow them. Then lying will spread, until a man testifies while his testimony was not requested, and a man will take an oath while an oath was not sought.

Ibn 'Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: Two favors that many of the people squander are health and free time.

Al-Hasan narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: Who will take these statements from me, so that he may act upon them, or teach one who will act upon them? So Abu Hurairah said: I said: 'I shall O Messenger of Allah!' So he (s.a.w) took my hand and enumerated five (things), he said: Be on guard against the unlawful and you shall be the most worshiping among the people, be satisfied with what Allah has alloted for you and you shall be the richest of the people, be kind to your neighbor and you shall be a believer, love for the people what you love for yourself and you shall be a Muslim. And do not laugh too much, for indeed increased laughter kills the heart.

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: Race to do works against seven. Are you waiting but for overwhelming poverty, or distracting richness, or debilitating illness, or babbling senility, or sudden death, or the Dajjal, so that hidden evil is what is awaited, or the Hour? The Hour is more calamitous and more bitter. (Daif)
