Usamah bin Zaid narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: Whoever some good was done to him, and he says: 'May Allah reward you in goodness' then he has done the most that he can of praise.

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ بِمَكَّةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَحْوَصُ بْنُ جَوَّابٍ، عَنْ سُعَيْرِ بْنِ الْخِمْسِ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ صُنِعَ إِلَيْهِ مَعْرُوفٌ فَقَالَ لِفَاعِلِهِ:‏‏‏‏ جَزَاكَ اللَّهُ خَيْرًا فَقَدْ أَبْلَغَ فِي الثَّنَاءِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ جَيِّدٌ غَرِيبٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏لَا نَعْرِفُهُ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ إِلَّا مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَأَلْتُ مُحَمَّدًا فَلَمْ يَعْرِفْهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ حَازِمٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَال:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ الْمَكِّيَّ بْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا عِنْدَ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ الْمَكِّيِّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَجَاءَ سَائِلٌ فَسَأَلَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ لِخَازِنِهِ:‏‏‏‏ أَعْطِهِ دِينَارًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَا عِنْدِي إِلَّا دِينَارٌ إِنْ أَعْطَيْتُهُ لَجُعْتَ وَعِيَالُكَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَغَضِبَ وَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَعْطِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ الْمَكِّيُّ:‏‏‏‏ فَنَحْنُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ بِكِتَابٍ وَصُرَّةٍ وَقَدْ بَعَثَ إِلَيْهِ بَعْضُ إِخْوَانِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَفِي الْكِتَابِ إِنِّي قَدْ بَعَثْتُ خَمْسِينَ دِينَارًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَحَلَّ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ الصُّرَّةَ:‏‏‏‏ فَعَدَّهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ أَحَدٌ وَخَمْسُونَ دِينَارًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ لِخَازِنِهِ:‏‏‏‏ قَدْ أَعْطَيْتَ وَاحِدًا فَرَدَّهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْكَ وَزَادَكَ خَمْسِينَ دِينَارًا.

اسامہ بن زید رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جس شخص کے ساتھ کوئی بھلائی کی گئی اور اس نے بھلائی کرنے والے سے «جزاك الله خيراً» ”اللہ تعالیٰ تم کو بہتر بدلا دے“ کہا، اس نے اس کی پوری پوری تعریف کر دی“ ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- یہ حدیث حسن جید غریب ہے، ہم اسے اسامہ بن زید رضی الله عنہ کی روایت سے صرف اسی سند سے جانتے ہیں، ۲- ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ کے واسطہ سے بھی نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اسی کے مثل حدیث مروی ہے، میں نے محمد بن اسماعیل بخاری سے اس کے بارے میں پوچھا تو انہوں نے لاعلمی کا اظہار کیا، ۳- مکی بن ابراہیم کہتے ہیں کہ ہم لوگ ابن جریج مکی کے پاس تھے، ایک مانگنے والا آیا اور ان سے کچھ مانگا، ابن جریج نے اپنے خزانچی سے کہا: اسے ایک دینار دے دو، خازن نے کہا: میرے پاس صرف ایک دینار ہے اگر میں اسے دے دوں تو آپ اور آپ کے اہل و عیال بھوکے رہ جائیں گے، یہ سن کر ابن جریج غصہ ہو گئے اور فرمایا: اسے دینار دے دو، ہم ابن جریج کے پاس ہی تھے کہ ایک آدمی ان کے پاس ایک خط اور تھیلی لے کر آیا جسے ان کے بعض دوستوں نے بھیجا تھا، خط میں لکھا تھا: میں نے پچاس دینار بھیجے ہیں، ابن جریج نے تھیلی کھولی اور شمار کیا تو اس میں اکاون دینار تھے، ابن جریج نے اپنے خازن سے کہا: تم نے ایک دینار دیا تو اللہ تعالیٰ نے تم کو اسے مزید پچاس دینار کے ساتھ لوٹا دیا۔

Qatadah bin An-Nu'man narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: When Allah loves a slave, He prevents him from the world, just as one of you prevents his sick from water.

Umm Al-Mundhir said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered upon me, while `Ali was with him, and we had a cluster of unripe dates hanging. She said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) began eating, and `Ali ate with him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to `Ali: 'Stop, stop, for you are still recovering.' So `Ali sat and the Prophet (ﷺ) ate. She said: I made some chard and barley for them, so the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'O `Ali eat from this, for indeed it will be more suitable for you.

Usamah bin Sharik said: Some Bedouins asked: 'O Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) shall we treat (our ill)?' He said: 'Yes, O worshipers of Allah! Use remedies. For indeed Allah did not make a disease but He made a cure for it' - or - 'a remedy. Except for one disease.' They said: 'O Messenger of Allah (s.a.w)! What is it?' He said: 'Old age.'

Aishah narrated: Whenever one of the wives of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) became (feverishly) ill, he would order that some broth be prepared. Then he would tell them to take some of the broth. And he would say: 'It firms the heart of the grieved, and it rids the worries from the heart of the ill just as one of you removes dirt from her face with water.

Uqbah bin Amir Al-Juhani narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: Do not force your sick to eat, for indeed Allah, Blessed and Most High, provides them food and drink. (Dai'f)
