Abu Barzah narrated: The Prophet would dislike to sleep before Isha and to talk after it.

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ، حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَوْفٌ، قَالَ أَحْمَدُ:‏‏‏‏ وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ هُوَ الْمُهَلَّبِيُّ، وَإِسْمَاعِيل ابْنُ علية جميعا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَوْفٍ، عَنْ سَيَّارِ بْنِ سَلَامَةَ هُوَ أَبُو الْمِنْهَالِ الرِّيَاحِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ، قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكْرَهُ النَّوْمَ قَبْلَ الْعِشَاءِ وَالْحَدِيثَ بَعْدَهَا . قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَائِشَةَ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَأَنَسٍ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى:‏‏‏‏ حَدِيثُ أَبِي بَرْزَةَ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَدْ كَرِهَ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ النَّوْمَ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ وَالْحَدِيثَ بَعْدَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَخَّصَ فِي ذَلِكَ بَعْضُهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ:‏‏‏‏ أَكْثَرُ الْأَحَادِيثِ عَلَى الْكَرَاهِيَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَرَخَّصَ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي النَّوْمِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ فِي رَمَضَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَسَيَّارُ بْنُ سَلَامَةَ هُوَ أَبُو الْمِنْهَالِ الرِّيَاحِيُّ

ابوبرزہ رضی الله عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی اکرم صلی الله علیہ وسلم عشاء سے پہلے سونے اور اس کے بعد بات چیت کرنے کو ناپسند فرماتے تھے ۱؎۔ امام ترمذی کہتے ہیں: ۱- ابوبرزہ کی حدیث حسن صحیح ہے، ۲- اس باب میں عائشہ، عبداللہ بن مسعود اور انس رضی الله عنہم سے بھی احادیث آئی ہیں، ۳- اور اکثر اہل علم نے نماز عشاء سے پہلے سونے اور اس کے بعد بات کرنے کو مکروہ کہا ہے، اور بعض نے اس کی اجازت دی ہے، عبداللہ بن مبارک کہتے ہیں: اکثر حدیثیں کراہت پر دلالت کرنے والی ہیں، اور بعض لوگوں نے رمضان میں عشاء سے پہلے سونے کی اجازت دی ہے۔

Umar bin Al-Khattab narrated: Allah's Messenger would talk during the night with Abu Bakr about matters concerning the Muslims while I was with them.

Umm Farwah - and she was one of those who gave pledge of allegiance to the Prophet - narrated: The Prophet was asked: 'Which deed is the best?' So he said: 'Salat in the beginning of its time.'

Ali bin AbI Talib narrated that : the Prophet said to him: 'Ali! Three are not to be delayed: Salat when its time comes, a funeral whet it (a prepared body) is present, and the (marriage of a) single woman when there is an equal for her.

Ibn Umar narrated that : Allah's Messenger said: The beginning of the time for Salat is pleasing to Allah, and the end of its time is pardoned by Allah.

Abu Amr Ash-Shaibani narrated: A man said to Ibn Mas'ud: 'Which deed is most virtuous?' He said: 'I asked Allah's Messenger (that). He said: Salat at the beginning of its time. I asked him: What is after that O Messenger of Allah? He said: Being dutiful to one's parents. I said: What is after that [O Messenger of Allah]? He said: Jihad in the Way of Allah.
