It was narrated that Anas said: The Messenger of Allah set the time for postnatal bleeding at forty days, except for one who becomes pure before that.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَلَّامِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَوْ سَلْمٍ شَكَّ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ وَأَظُنُّهُ هُوَ أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَنَسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَّتَ لِلنُّفَسَاءِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا إِلَّا أَنْ تَرَى الطُّهْرَ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ .

انس رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نفاس والی عورتوں کے لیے مدت نفاس کی چالیس دن مقرر کی مگر یہ کہ وہ اس سے پہلے پاکی دیکھ لیں۔

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: If a man had intercourse with his wife while she was menstruating, the Prophet commanded him to give half a Dinar in charity.
