It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Harith bin Nawfal said: I asked whether the Messenger of Allah prayed voluntary prayer when traveling, but I could not find anyone to tell me until Umm Hani' bint Abu Talib told me that he had come during the year of the Conquest (of Makkah). He ordered that a screen be held up, and that was done, and he took a bath; then he prayed eight Rak'ah (units) of voluntary prayer.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنْبَأَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَأَلْتُ فَلَمْ أَجِدْ أَحَدًا يُخْبِرُنِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبَّحَ فِي سَفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَتَّى أَخْبَرَتْنِي أُمُّ هَانِئٍ بِنْتُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَنَّهُ قَدِمَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ فَأَمَرَ بِسِتْرٍ فَسُتِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَاغْتَسَلَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ سَبَّحَ ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ .

عبداللہ بن عبداللہ بن نوفل کہتے ہیں: میں نے پوچھا رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سفر میں نفل نماز پڑھی ہے؟ تو مجھے کوئی بتانے والا نہیں ملا، یہاں تک کہ مجھے ام ہانی بنت ابی طالب رضی اللہ عنہا نے بتایا کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم فتح مکہ کے سال آئے، پھر آپ نے ایک پردہ لگانے کا حکم دیا، پردہ کر دیا گیا، تو آپ نے غسل کیا، پھر نفل کی آٹھ رکعتیں پڑھیں ۱؎۔

It was narrated from 'Urwah bin Zubair that Fatimah bint Abi Hubaish narrated to him that: She went to the Messenger of Allah and complained to him about bleeding. The Messenger of Allah said: Rather that is a vein, so look and see when your period comes, then do not perform the prayer. When the period is over, then purify yourself and perform the prayer between one period to the next.
