Translation

It was narrated from ‘Ali that a two-piece suit hemmed with silk, either on the wrap or the weft,* was given to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he sent them to me (‘Ali). I came to him and said: “O Messenger of Allah, what should I do with these? Shall I wear them?” He said: “No, rather make them into head-cloths and give them to the Fatimahs.”**

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي فَاخِتَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنِيهُبَيْرَةُ بْنُ يَرِيمَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّهُ أُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حُلَّةٌ مَكْفُوفَةٌ بِحَرِيرٍ،‏‏‏‏ إِمَّا سَدَاهَا،‏‏‏‏ وَإِمَّا لَحْمَتُهَا فَأَرْسَلَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ فَأَتَيْتُهُ،‏‏‏‏ فَقُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ،‏‏‏‏ مَا أَصْنَعُ بِهَا أَلْبَسُهَا،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا وَلَكِنْ اجْعَلْهَا خُمُرًا بَيْنَ الْفَوَاطِمِ .

علی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں ایک ریشمی ( جوڑا ) تحفہ میں آیا جس کے تانے یا بانے میں ریشم ملا ہوا تھا، آپ نے وہ میرے پاس بھیج دیا، میں آپ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا، اور عرض کیا: اللہ کے رسول! میں اس کا کیا کروں؟ کیا میں اسے پہنوں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہیں، بلکہ اسے فاطماؤں کی اوڑھنیاں بنا دو ۱؎۔

It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out to us, and in one of his hands was a garment of silk and in the other was some gold. He said: ‘These are forbidden to the males of my nation and permitted to the females.’”

It was narrated that Anas said: “I saw Zainab the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wearing a shirt of Siyara’ silk.*

It was narrated that Bara’ said: “I never saw anyone more handsome then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), with his hair combed, wearing a red two-piece suit.”

‘Abdullah bin Buraidah narrated that his father told him: I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delivering a sermon, and Hasan and Husain came forward, wearing red shirts, stumbling and getting up again. The Prophet (ﷺ) stepped down, picked them up and put them in his lap. Then he said: “Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth. ‘Your wealth and your children are only a trial.’ [64:15] I saw these two and I could not be patient. Then he resumed his sermon.”
