Translation

Arabic, english and urdu

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar: “The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) were allowed to let their hems hang down, so they used to come to us and we would measure one forearms length for them with a reed.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ زَيْدٍ الْعَمِّيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ النَّاجِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ رُخِّصَ لَهُنَّ فِي الذَّيْلِ ذِرَاعًا،‏‏‏‏ فَكُنَّ يَأْتِيَنَّا فَنَذْرَعُ لَهُنَّ بِالْقَصَبِ ذِرَاعًا .

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی ازواج مطہرات رضی اللہ عنہن کو کپڑوں کے دامن ایک ہاتھ لٹکانے کی اجازت تھی، چنانچہ جب وہ ہمارے پاس آتیں تو ہم ان کے لیے لکڑی سے ایک ہاتھ کا ناپ بنا کر دیتے۔

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said to Fatimah, or to Umm Salamah: “Let your hem down one forearm’s length.”
