It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to seek refuge from the evil eye of the jinn and of mankind. When the Mu’awwidhatain* were revealed, he started to recite them and stopped reciting anything else.”
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبَّادٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ:‏‏‏‏ عَيْنِ الْجَانِّ وأَعْيُنِ الْإِنْسِ،‏‏‏‏ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتِ الْمُعَوِّذَتَانِ أَخَذَهُمَا وَتَرَكَ مَا سِوَى ذَلِكَ .
ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم جنوں کی نظر بد سے، پھر آدمیوں کی نظر بد سے پناہ مانگتے تھے، پھر جب معوذتین ( سورۃ الفلق اور سورۃ الناس ) نازل ہوئیں، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان کو پڑھنا شروع کیا، اور باقی تمام چیزیں چھوڑ دیں۔

It was narrated that Jabir said: “There was a family among the Ansar, called Al ‘Amr bin Hazm, who used to recite Ruqyah for the scorpion sting, but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade Ruqyah. They came to him and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! You have forbidden Ruqyah, but we recite Ruqyah against the scorpion’s sting.’ He said to them: ‘Recite it to me.’ So they recited it to him, and he said: ‘There is nothing wrong with this, this is confirmed.’”
