Translation

It was narrated that Rafi’ bin Khadij said: “I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: ‘Fever is from the heat of the Hell-fire, so cool it down with water.’ He entered upon a son of ‘Ammar and said: ‘Take away the harm, O Lord of mankind, O God of mankind.’”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُصْعَبُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ،‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَسْرُوقٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْعَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ،‏‏‏‏ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ الْحُمَّى مِنْ فَيْحِ جَهَنَّمَ فَابْرُدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ ،‏‏‏‏ فَدَخَلَ عَلَى ابْنٍ لِعَمَّارٍ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ اكْشِفِ الْبَاسَ،‏‏‏‏ رَبَّ النَّاسِ،‏‏‏‏ إِلَهَ النَّاسِ .

رافع بن خدیج رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو فرماتے سنا: بخار جہنم کی بھاپ ہے، لہٰذا اسے پانی سے ٹھنڈا کرو ، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عمار کے ایک لڑکے کے پاس تشریف لے گئے ( وہ بیمار تھا ) اور یوں دعا فرمائی: «اكشف الباس رب الناس إله الناس» لوگوں کے رب، لوگوں کے معبود! ( اے اللہ ) تو اس بیماری کو دور فرما ۔

It was narrated from Asma’ bint Abu Bakr that a woman suffering from fever would be brought to her, and she would call for water and pour it onto the neck of her garment. She said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Cool it down with water,” and he said: “It is from the heat of Hell-fire.”

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Fever is one of the bellows of Hell, so avert it from yourselves with cold water.”

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “If there is any good in any of the remedies you use, it is in cupping.”

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “On the night on which I was taken on the Night Journey (Isra’), I did not pass by any group of angels but all of them said to me: ‘O Muhammad, you should use cupping.’”

It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘What a good slave is the cupper. He takes away the blood, reduces pressure on the spine, and improves the eyesight.’”

Anas bin Malik said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘On the night on which I was taken on the Night Journey (Isra’), I did not pass by any group (of angels) but they said to me: “O Muhammad, tell your nation to use cupping.”
