Translation

Arabic, English and Urdu

Humran the freed slave of 'Uthman bin 'Affan said: I saw 'Uthman bin 'Affan sitting in Maqa'id. He called for water and he performed ablution, the he said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah sitting in this place where I am sitting, performing ablution as I have done. Then he said: Whoever performs ablution as I have done, his previous sins will be forgiven. And the Messenger of Allah said: And do not be conceited (due to this great virtue). (Sahih) Another chain with similar wording.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِيمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي شَقِيقُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنِي حُمْرَانُ مَوْلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَقَاعِدًا فِي الْمَقَاعِدِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَدَعَا بِوَضُوءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَقْعَدِي هَذَا تَوَضَّأَ مِثْلَ وُضُوئِي هَذَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ مِثْلَ وُضُوئِي هَذَا غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ وَلَا تَغْتَرُّوا .

عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ کے غلام حمران کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ کو مسجد کے قریب چبوترے پہ بیٹھا ہوا دیکھا، انہوں نے وضو کا پانی منگایا، اور وضو کیا، پھر کہنے لگے میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو اپنے اسی بیٹھنے کی جگہ پر دیکھا کہ آپ نے اسی طرح وضو کیا جس طرح میں نے کیا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: جس نے میرے اس وضو کی طرح وضو کیا اس کے پچھلے تمام گناہ بخش دئیے جائیں گے ، اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم اس بشارت سے دھوکے میں نہ آ جانا ( کہ نیک اعمال چھوڑ دو ) ۔

It was narrated that Hudhaifah said: Whenever the Messenger of Allah got up for prayer at night to pray Tahajjud (night optional prayer), he would clean his mouth with the tooth stick.

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'Were it not that it would be too difficult for my Ummah (nation), I would have commanded them to use the tooth stick at every time of prayer.'

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah used to pray in the night (Qiyamul-Lail) two Rak'ah by two, then when he finished he would use the tooth stick.

It was narrated from Abu Umamah that: The Messenger of Allah said: Use the tooth stick, for the tooth stick purifies the mouth and is pleasing to the Lord. Jibril never came to me but he advised me to use the tooth stick, until I feared that it would be made obligatory for me and my Ummah. Were it not that I fear that it would be too difficult for my Ummah, I would have enjoined it upon them. And I use the tooth stick until I fear that I may make the front of my mouth sore.' (i.e. my gums) (or cause my teeth to fall out due to brushing them so often).

It was narrated from Miqdam bin Shuraih bin Hani' that his father said: I said to 'Aishah: 'Tell me, what was the first thing that the Messenger of Allah did when he entered upon you?' She said: 'The first thing he would do would be to use the tooth stick.'
