It was narrated that ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Ka’b bin Malik said: “I used to guide my father after he lost his sight, and when I took him out for the Friday (prayer), when he heard the Adhan he would pray for forgiveness for Abu Umamah As’ad bin Zurarah, and supplicate for him. I heard that from him for a while, then I said to myself: ‘By Allah! What is this weakness? Every time he heard the Adhan for Friday (prayer) I hear him praying for forgiveness for Abu Umamah and supplicate for him, and I do not ask him about why he does that.’ Then I took him out for Friday (prayer), as I used to take him out, and when he heard the Adhan he prayed for forgiveness as he used to do. I said to him: ‘O my father! I see you supplicating for As’ad bin Zurarah every time you hear the call for Friday; why is that?’ He said: ‘O my son, he was the first one who led us for the Friday prayer before the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came from Makkah, in Naqi’ Al- Khadamat (a place near Al-Madinah), in the plain of Harrah Banu Bayadah.’ I asked: ‘How many of you were there at that time?’ He said: ‘Forty men.’”

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ خَلَفٍ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنْتُ قَائِدَ أَبِي حِينَ ذَهَبَ بَصَرُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَكُنْتُ إِذَا خَرَجْتُ بِهِ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ فَسَمِعَ الْأَذَانَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏اسْتَغْفَرَ لِأَبِي أُمَامَةَ أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَدَعَا لَهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَمَكَثْتُ حِينًا أَسْمَعُ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي:‏‏‏‏ وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ ذَا لَعَجْزٌ إِنِّي أَسْمَعُهُ كُلَّمَا سَمِعَ أَذَانَ الْجُمُعَةِ يَسْتَغْفِرُ لِأَبِي أُمَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا أَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ لِمَ هُوَ؟ فَخَرَجْتُ بِهِ كَمَا كُنْتُ أَخْرُجُ بِهِ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَلَمَّا سَمِعَ الْأَذَانَ اسْتَغْفَرَ كَمَا كَانَ يَفْعَلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقُلْتُ لَهُ:‏‏‏‏ يَا أَبَتَاهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَرَأَيْتَكَ صَلَاتَكَ عَلَى أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ كُلَّمَا سَمِعْتَ النِّدَاءَ بِالْجُمُعَةِ لِمَ هُوَ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيْ بُنَيَّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏كَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ صَلَّى بِنَا صَلَاةَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَبْلَ مَقْدَمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ فِي نَقِيعِ الْخَضَمَاتِ فِي هَزْمٍ مِنْ حَرَّةِ بَنِي بَيَاضَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قُلْتُ:‏‏‏‏ كَمْ كُنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ؟، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَرْبَعِينَ رَجُلًا .

عبدالرحمٰن بن کعب بن مالک کہتے ہیں کہ جب میرے والد کی بینائی چلی گئی تو میں انہیں پکڑ کر لے جایا کرتا تھا، جب میں انہیں نماز جمعہ کے لیے لے کر نکلتا اور وہ اذان سنتے تو ابوامامہ اسعد بن زرارہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے لیے استغفار اور دعا کرتے، میں ایک زمانہ تک ان سے یہی سنتا رہا، پھر ایک روز میں نے اپنے دل میں سوچا کہ اللہ کی قسم یہ تو بے وقوفی ہے کہ میں اتنے عرصے سے ہر جمعہ یہ بات سن رہا ہوں کہ جب بھی وہ جمعہ کی اذان سنتے ہیں تو ابوامامہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے لیے استغفار اور دعا کرتے ہیں، اور ابھی تک میں نے ان سے اس کی وجہ نہیں پوچھی، چنانچہ ایک روز معمول کے مطابق انہیں جمعہ کے لیے لے کر نکلا، جب انہوں نے اذان سنی تو حسب معمول ( اسعد بن زرارہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے لیے ) مغفرت کی دعا کی تو میں نے ان سے کہا: ابا جان! جب بھی آپ جمعہ کی اذان سنتے ہیں تو اسعد بن زرارہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے لیے دعا فرماتے ہیں، آخر اس کی وجہ کیا ہے، تو انہوں نے کہا: میرے بیٹے! اسعد ہی نے ہمیں سب سے پہلے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی مدینہ تشریف آوری سے پہلے قبیلہ بنی بیاضہ کے ہموار میدان «نقیع الخضمات» میں نماز جمعہ پڑھائی، میں نے سوال کیا: اس وقت آپ لوگوں کی تعداد کیا تھی؟ کہا: ہم چالیس آدمی تھے ۱؎۔

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Allah led those who came before us astray from Friday. Saturday was for the Jews and Sunday was for the Christians. And they will lag behind us until the Day of Resurrection. We are the last of the people of this world but we will be the first to be judged among all of creation.’”

It was narrated that Abu Lubabah bin ‘Abdul-Mundhir said: “The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Friday is the chief of days, the greatest day before Allah. It is greater before Allah then the Day of Adha and the Day of Fitr. It has five characteristics: On it Allah created Adam; on it Allah sent down Adam to this earth; on it there is a time during which a person does not ask Allah for anything but He will give it to him, so long as he does not ask for anything that is forbidden; on it the Hour will begin. There is no angel who is close to Allah, no heaven, no earth, no wind, no mountain, and no sea that does not fear Friday.’”

It was narrated that Shaddad bin Aws said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The best of your days is Friday. On it Adam was created, on it the Trumpet will be blown, on it all creatures will swoon. So send a great deal of peace and blessings upon me on that day, for your peace and blessings will be presented to me.’ A man said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, how will our peace and blessings be shown to you when you will have disintegrated?’ He said: ‘Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets.’”

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “From one Friday to the next is an expiation for whatever was committed in between, so long as one does not commit any major sin.”

Aws bin Aws Ath-Thaqafi said: “I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say: ‘Whoever takes a bath on Friday, and bathes completely, and goes early, arriving early,* and walks and does not ride (to the mosque), and sits close to the Imam and listens to him, and does not engage in idle talk; for every step he takes he will have the reward of one year, the reward of a year’s fasting and praying (at night).”
