It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said: “I was with the Prophet (ﷺ), and a man came to him and said: ‘Last night while I was sleeping, I saw that I was praying towards the base of a tree. I recited (an Ayah of) prostration and prostrated, and the tree prostrated when I did, and I heard it saying: Allahummah-tut anni biha wizran, waktub li biha ajran, waj’al-ha li ‘indaka dhukhran (O Allah, reduce my burden of sin thereby, reward me for it and store it for me with You).’ Ibn ‘Abbas said: “I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) recite (an Ayah of) prostration and then prostrate, and I heard him saying in his prostration something like that which the man had told him the tree said.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُنَيْسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ لِي ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏يَا حَسَنُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏أَخْبَرَنِي جَدُّكَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ الْبَارِحَةَ فِيمَا يَرَى النَّائِمُ كَأَنِّي أُصَلِّي إِلَى أَصْلِ شَجَرَةٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَرَأْتُ:‏‏‏‏ السَّجْدَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَجَدْتُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَجَدَتِ الشَّجَرَةُ لِسُجُودِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَمِعْتُهَا تَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ اللَّهُمَّ احْطُطْ عَنِّي بِهَا وِزْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاكْتُبْ لِي بِهَا أَجْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَاجْعَلْهَا لِي عِنْدَكَ ذُخْرًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ:‏‏‏‏ فَرَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَرَأَ السَّجْدَةَ فَسَجَدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ فِي سُجُودِهِ مِثْلَ الَّذِي أَخْبَرَهُ الرَّجُلُ عَنْ قَوْلِ الشَّجَرَةِ .

عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے پاس تھا کہ اس دوران ایک شخص آیا ۱؎ اور اس نے عرض کیا کہ کل رات میں نے ایک خواب دیکھا ہے جیسے سونے والا دیکھتا ہے، گویا میں ایک درخت کی جڑ میں نماز پڑھ رہا ہوں، میں نے سجدے کی آیت پڑھی اور سجدہ کیا، تو درخت نے بھی میرے ساتھ سجدہ کیا، اور میں نے اس کو یہ کہتے ہوئے سنا «اللهم احطط عني بها وزرا واكتب لي بها أجرا واجعلها لي عندك ذخرا» اے اللہ! اس سجدہ کی وجہ سے میرے گناہ ختم کر دے، اور میرے لیے اجر لکھ دے، اور اس اجر کو میرے لیے اپنے پاس ذخیرہ بنا دے ۲؎۔ عبداللہ بن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو دیکھا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سجدہ کی آیت پڑھی اور سجدہ کیا، تو میں نے سنا آپ سجدہ میں وہی دعا پڑھ رہے تھے، جو اس آدمی نے درخت سے سن کر بیان کی تھی۔

It was narrated from ‘Ali that whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated he would say: “Allahumma laka sajadtu, wa bika amantu, wa laka aslamtu, Anta rabbi, sajada wajhi lilladhi shaqqa sam’ahu wa basarahu, tabarak Allah ahsanul-khaliqin (O Allah, to You I have prostrated, and in You I have believed, and to You I have submitted. You are my Lord; my face has prostrated to the One Who gave it hearing and sight. Blessed is Allah the best of Creators).”*

It was narrated that Umm Darda’ said: “Abu Darda’ told me that he did eleven prostrations* with the Prophet (ﷺ), including An-Najm.”

It was narrated that Abu Darda’ said: “I performed eleven prostrations with the Prophet (ﷺ) of which there were none in the Mufassal. Al-A’raf, Ar-Ra’d, An-Nahl, Bani Isra’il, Maryam, Al-Hajj, the prostration in Al-Furqan, Surat An-Naml (mentioning) Sulaiman, As- Sajdah, Sad, and the Ha-Mim Surah.”
