Anas narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Make your rows solid and close together, and keep your necks in line. By the One in Whose Hand is the soul of Muhammad! I can see the shaitan entering through the gaps in the rows as if they are small sheep.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ الْمُخَرِّمِيُّ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هِشَامٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قال:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قال:‏‏‏‏ رَاصُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ وَقَارِبُوا بَيْنَهَا وَحَاذُوا بِالْأَعْنَاقِ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ إِنِّي لَأَرَى الشَّيَاطِينَ تَدْخُلُ مِنْ خَلَلِ الصَّفِّ كَأَنَّهَا الْحَذَفُ .

قتادہ کہتے ہیں کہ ہم سے انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: تم اپنی صفیں سیسہ پلائی دیوار کی طرح درست کر لو، اور انہیں ایک دوسرے کے نزدیک رکھو، اور گردنیں ایک دوسرے کے بالمقابل رکھو کیونکہ قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس کے ہاتھ میں محمد کی جان ہے، میں شیاطین کو صف کے درمیان ۱؎ گھستے ہوئے دیکھتا ہوں جیسے وہ بکری کے کالے بچے ہوں ۔

It was narrated that Jabir bin Samurah said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out to us and said:'Will you not form rows as the angels form rows before their Lord? They said: 'How do the angels form rows before their lord? He said: 'They complete the first row and fill the gaps in the rows. '
