Translation

It was narrated that Samurah bin Sahm said: I came to Abu Hashim bin 'Utbah when he was suffering the plague, and Mu'awiyah came to visit him. Abu Hashim wept. Mu'awiyah said to him: 'Why are you weeping? Is it because of some pain that is hurting you, or is it for this world, the best of which has gone?' He said: 'Neither, but the Messenger of Allah [SAW] gave me some advice, which I wish that I had followed. He said: Perhaps you will live to see wealth that will be distributed among the people when all that would suffice you of that would be a servant and a mount to ride in the cause of Allah. I lived to see that, and I accumulated (wealth).'

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ جَرِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ سَهْمٍ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ نَزَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي هَاشِمِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ وَهُوَ طَعِينٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَتَاهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ يَعُودُهُ،‏‏‏‏ فَبَكَى أَبُو هَاشِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ:‏‏‏‏ مَا يُبْكِيكَ أَوَجَعٌ يُشْئِزُكَ،‏‏‏‏ أَمْ عَلَى الدُّنْيَا فَقَدْ ذَهَبَ صَفْوُهَا ؟،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُلٌّ لَا،‏‏‏‏ وَلَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ عَهْدًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ تَبِعْتُهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّهُ لَعَلَّكَ تُدْرِكُ أَمْوَالًا تُقْسَمُ بَيْنَ أَقْوَامٍ وَإِنَّمَا يَكْفِيكَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ خَادِمٌ وَمَرْكَبٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَأَدْرَكْتُ فَجَمَعْتُ.

ابووائل سے روایت ہے کہ سمرہ بن سہم جو ابووائل کے قبیلے کے ہیں کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے ابوہاشم بن عتبہ رضی اللہ عنہ کے یہاں ٹھہرا، وہ طاعون میں مبتلا تھے، چنانچہ ان کی عیادت کے لیے معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ آئے، تو ابوہاشم رونے لگے، معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: کیوں رو رہے ہو؟ کیا کسی تکلیف کی وجہ سے رو رہے ہو یا دنیا کے لیے؟ دنیا کی راحت تو اب گئی، انہوں نے کہا: ایسی کوئی بات نہیں ہے، دراصل مجھے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا ایک عہد یاد آ گیا جو آپ نے مجھ سے لیا تھا، میں چاہتا تھا کہ میں اس کی پیروی کروں، آپ نے فرمایا: ”تیرے سامنے ایسے اموال آئیں گے جو لوگوں کے درمیان تقسیم کیے جائیں گے، لیکن تمہارے لیے اس میں سے صرف ایک خادم اور اللہ کی راہ کے لیے ایک سواری کافی ہے، لیکن میں نے مال پایا پھر اسے جمع کیا“۔

It was narrated that Abu Umamah bin Sahl said: The pommel of the sword of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] was of silver.

It was narrated that Anas said: The metallic end of the scabbard of the Messenger of Allah [SAW] was of silver, the pommel of his sword was silver, and in between were rings of silver.

It was narrated that 'Ali said: The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said to me: Say: O Allah, make me steadfast and guide me. And he forbade me to sit on Al-Mayathir. Al-Mayathir: Qassi which the women used to put on the saddles for their husbands, such as red cushions.

It was narrated that Humaid bin Hilal said: Abu Rifa'ah said: 'I came to the Messenger of Allah [SAW] while he was delivering a Khutbah, and said: O Messenger of Allah, a stranger has come to ask about his religion, for he does not know what his religion is. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] stopped delivering his Khutbah and turned to me. A chair was brought, and I think its legs were of iron. The Messenger of Allah [SAW] sat down on it and started to teach me what Allah has taught him, then he went and completed his Khutbah.'

It was narrated that Abu Juhaifah said: We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) in Al-Batha' and he was in a red tent, and some people were with him, and he was about to set out. Bilal came and called the Adhan, turning this way and that.
