It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Ja'far said: The Messenger of Allah [SAW] stayed away from the family of Ja'far (when he died) for three days, then he came to them, and said: 'Do not weep for my brother after today.' Then he said: 'Call my brother's sons to me.' We were brought like little chicks, and he said: 'Call the barber for me.' Then he ordered that our heads be shaved.
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ أَبِي يَعْقُوبَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَمْهَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آلَ جَعْفَرٍ ثَلَاثَةً أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ أَتَاهُمْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا تَبْكُوا عَلَى أَخِي بَعْدَ الْيَوْمِ ،‏‏‏‏ ثُمَّ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ادْعُوا إِلَيَّ بَنِي أَخِي ،‏‏‏‏ فَجِيءَ بِنَا كَأَنَّا أَفْرُخٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ ادْعُوا إِلَيَّ الْحَلَّاقَ ،‏‏‏‏ فَأَمَرَ بِحَلْقِ رُءُوسِنَا. مُخْتَصَرٌ.
عبداللہ بن جعفر رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے آل جعفر کو یہ کہہ کر کہ آپ ان کے پاس آئیں گے تین روز تک ( رونے اور غم منانے کی ) اجازت دی ۱؎، پھر آپ ان کے پاس آئے اور فرمایا: ”آج کے بعد میرے بھائی پر مت روؤ“، پھر فرمایا: ”میرے بھائی کے بچوں کو بلاؤ“۔ چنانچہ ہمیں لایا گیا گویا ہم چوزے بہت چھوٹے تھے پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ”نائی کو بلاؤ“، پھر آپ نے ہمارے سر مونڈنے کا حکم دیا۔
