Narrated from Ibn 'Amr: A similar report was narrated from Ibn 'Amr, from a man, from Ya'la.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عَمْرٍو، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ رَجُلٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَعْلَى نَحْوَهُ،‏‏‏‏ خَالَفَهُ سُفْيَانُ رَوَاهُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ يَعْلَى.

اس سند سے بھی یعلیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ سے اسی طرح مروی ہے۔ ( ابوعبدالرحمٰن نسائی کہتے ہیں: ) سفیان کی روایت اس کے برخلاف ہے، چنانچہ انہوں نے اسے عطاء بن سائب سے، انہوں نے عبداللہ بن حفص سے اور انہوں نے یعلیٰ سے روایت کیا ہے۔ ( عبداللہ بن حفص وہی ابوحفص بن عمرو ہے جو پچھلی سند میں ہے۔ )

It was narrated that Ya'la bin Murrah Ath-Thaqafi said: The Messenger of Allah [SAW] saw me wearing a little dab of Khaluq. He said: 'O Ya'la, do you have a wife?' I said: 'No.' He said: 'Wash it off and do not put it on again, then wash it off and do not put it on again, then wash it off and do not put it on again.' I said: 'So I washed it off, and did not put it on again, then I washed it off and did not put it on again, then I washed it off, and did not put it on again.

It was narrated that Ya'la said: I passed by the Messenger of Allah [SAW] and I was wearing Khaluq. He said: 'O Ya'la, do you have a wife?'
