Abu Al-Minhal said: I heard Iyas bin 'Umar - and on one occasion he said: Ibn 'Abd - say: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah forbid the sale of water.

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ،‏‏‏‏ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَا:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْمِنْهَالِ،‏‏‏‏ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ إِيَاسَ بْنَ عُمَرَ،‏‏‏‏ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً:‏‏‏‏ ابْنَ عَبْدٍ،‏‏‏‏ يَقُولُ:‏‏‏‏ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ يَنْهَى عَنْ بَيْعِ الْمَاءِ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ:‏‏‏‏ لَمْ أَفْقَهْ عَنْهُ بَعْضَ حُرُوفِ أَبِي الْمِنْهَالِ كَمَا أَرَدْتُ.

ایاس بن عمر (یا ابن عبد) رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو پانی بیچنے سے منع فرماتے ہوئے سنا۔ قتیبہ کہتے ہیں: مجھے ان ( سفیان ) سے ایک مرتبہ ابومنہال کے بعض کلمات سمجھ میں نہیں آئے جیسا میں نے چاہا۔

It was narrated from Iyas that: the Messenger of Allah forbade selling surplus water. The keeper of al-Wahat sold the surplus water of al-Wahat, and 'Abdullah bin 'Arm disapproved of that.

Iya bin 'Abd, the companion of the Prophet said: do not sell surplus water, for the Prophet forbade the sale of surplus water.

It was narrated from Ibn Wa'lah Misri that he asked Ibn 'Abbas about what is produced from grapes. Ibn'Abbas said: A man gave the Messenger of Allah a skin full of wine, and the Prophet said to him;' did you know that Allah has forbidden it?' He whispered something and I did not understand what he whispered as I wanted to. I asked a person who was beside him and the Prophet said to him; 'What are you whispering about?' He said: 'I told him to sell it.' The Prophet said: 'The One Who forbade drinking it also forbade selling it.' Then he opened the vessels and poured out their contents.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: When the Verses of Riba were revealed, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up on the Minbar and recited them to the people, then he forbade dealing in wine.
