حَدَّثَنِي إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ كُنَّا نُرْزَقُ تَمْرَ الْجَمْعِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَبِيعُ الصَّاعَيْنِ بِالصَّاعِ،‏‏‏‏ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا صَاعَيْ تَمْرٍ بِصَاعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَلَا صَاعَيْ حِنْطَةٍ بِصَاعٍ وَلَا دِرْهَمًا بِدِرْهَمَيْنِ .
ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   ہمیں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانے میں ردی کھجوریں ملتی تھیں تو ہم دو صاع دے کر ایک صاع ( اچھی کھجوریں ) خرید لیتے تھے، یہ بات رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو معلوم ہوئی تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”کھجور کے دو صاع ایک صاع کے بدلے، گیہوں کے دو صاع ایک صاع کے بدلے اور دو درہم ایک درہم کے بدلے نہ لیے جائیں“۔
