It was narrated that Sa 'd bin Malik said: The Messenger of Allah was asked about (buying) said; 'Will fresh dates decrees (in weight or volume) when they dry out? 'They said 'yes so he forbade that
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ زَيْدٍ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الرُّطَبِ بِالتَّمْرِ،‏‏‏‏ فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَيَنْقُصُ إِذَا يَبِسَ ؟ ،‏‏‏‏ قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ نَعَمْ،‏‏‏‏ فَنَهَى عَنْهُ .
سعد بن مالک (سعد بن ابی وقاص) رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ   رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے سوکھی کھجور کے بدلے تازہ کھجور بیچنے کے متعلق سوال کیا گیا؟ تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”کیا تازہ کھجور سوکھنے پر کم ہو جائے گی؟“ لوگوں نے کہا: جی ہاں، تو آپ نے اس سے منع فرمایا۔

Or, if it is grapes, he sells them when they are still on the vines, for a measure of raisins, estimating the amount (of grapes on the vines).
