It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: A vow does not bring anything to the son of Adam that has not been decreed for him. It is just a means of taking wealth from the miserly.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ،‏‏‏‏ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،‏‏‏‏ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَأْتِي النَّذْرُ عَلَى ابْنِ آدَمَ شَيْئًا لَمْ أُقَدِّرْهُ عَلَيْهِ،‏‏‏‏ وَلَكِنَّهُ شَيْءٌ اسْتُخْرِجَ بِهِ مِنَ الْبَخِيلِ .

ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ( اللہ تعالیٰ فرماتا ہے ) نذر ابن آدم کے پاس کوئی ایسی چیز نہیں لا سکتی جسے میں نے اس کے لیے مقدر نہ کیا ہو، البتہ یہ ایک ایسی چیز ہے جس سے بخیل سے ( کچھ مال ) نکال لیا جاتا ہے ۱؎۔

Imran bin Husain said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'The best of you are my generation, then those who come after them, then those whom after them, then those who come after them.' -I do not know if he said two times after him or three. Then he mentioned some people who betray and cannot be trusted, who bear witness without being asked to do so, who make vows and do not fulfill them, and fatness will prevail among them.
