It was narrated that Tawus said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'It is not permissible for anyone to give a gift then take it back, except from one's son.' Tawus said: When I was young I used to hear (the phrase), 'The one who goes back to his vomit,' but we did not realize that this was a similitude. He said: The likeness of the one who does that is that of a dog which eats then vomits, then goes back to its vomit.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ طَاوُسٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:‏‏‏‏ لَا يَحِلُّ لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَهَبَ هِبَةً ثُمَّ يَرْجِعَ فِيهَا إِلَّا مِنْ وَلَدِهِ ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ طَاوُسٌ:‏‏‏‏ كُنْتُ أَسْمَعُ وَأَنَا صَغِيرٌ عَائِدٌ فِي قَيْئِهِ فَلَمْ نَدْرِ أَنَّهُ ضَرَبَ لَهُ مَثَلًا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ فَمَنْ فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ فَمَثَلُهُ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ يَأْكُلُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَقِيءُ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏ثُمَّ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ .

تابعی طاؤس کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کسی کے لیے حلال نہیں ہے کہ وہ کسی کوئی ہبہ دے پھر اسے واپس لے، سوائے باپ کے کہ وہ اپنے بیٹے کو دے کر اس سے واپس لے سکتا ہے“۔ طاؤس کہتے ہیں: قے کر کے اسے چاٹنے کی بات میں سنتا تھا اور ( اس وقت ) میں چھوٹا تھا۔ میں یہ نہیں جان سکا تھا کہ آپ نے اسے بطور مثال بیان کیا ہے، ( تو اب سنو ) جو شخص ایسا کرے اس کی مثال کتے کی ہے جو قے کرتا ہے، پھر اسے چاٹتا ہے۔

Abdullah bin 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'The likeness of the one who takes back his gift, is that of a dog which goes back to its vomit and eats it.'

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet said: The likeness of the one who gives a gift then takes it back, is that of a dog which vomits, then goes back to its vomit and eats it.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah said: The likeness of the one who takes back his gift is that of a dog which vomits, then goes back to its vomit. (One of the narrators) Al-Awza'i said: I heard him narrating this Hadith to 'Ata bin Abi Rabah.
