Translation

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that he divorced his wife when she was menstruating. 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, mentioned that to the Prophet and he said: Tell him to take her back until she menstruates again, then when she becomes pure, if he wants he may divorce her and if he wants he may keep her. This is the divorce that Allah has enjoined. Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, says: 'The divorce is twice, after that, either you retain her on reasonable terms or release her with kindness.'

حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ:‏‏‏‏ أَنْبَأَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ إِدْرِيسَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاق، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَيَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ،‏‏‏‏ وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ،‏‏‏‏ عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ. ح وأَخْبَرَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَمُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ نَافِعٍ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالُوا:‏‏‏‏ إِنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَذَكَرَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَقَالَ:‏‏‏‏ مُرْهُ فَلْيُرَاجِعْهَا حَتَّى تَحِيضَ حَيْضَةً أُخْرَى، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِذَا طَهُرَتْ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنْ شَاءَ طَلَّقَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏وَإِنْ شَاءَ أَمْسَكَهَا، ‏‏‏‏‏‏فَإِنَّهُ الطَّلَاقُ الَّذِي أَمَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ بِهِ، ‏‏‏‏‏‏قَالَ تَعَالَى:‏‏‏‏ فَطَلِّقُوهُنَّ لِعِدَّتِهِنَّ سورة الطلاق آية 1 .

عبداللہ بن عمر رضی الله عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ انہوں نے اپنی بیوی کو حالت حیض میں طلاق دے دی، اس بات کا ذکر عمر نے نبی اکرم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کیا تو آپ نے فرمایا: ”انہیں حکم دو کہ اسے لوٹا لے پھر جب دوسرا حیض آ کر پاک ہو جائے تو چاہے تو اسے طلاق دیدے اور چاہے تو اسے روکے رکھے، یہی وہ طلاق ہے جو اللہ عزوجل کے حکم کے مطابق ہے، اللہ تعالیٰ نے فرمایا ہے: «فطلقوهن لعدتهن» ”انہیں طلاق دو ان کی عدت ( کے دنوں کے آغاز ) میں“ ( الطلاق: ۱ ) “۔

When Ibn 'Umar was asked about a man who divorced his wife when she was menstruating, he would say: If it is the first or second divorce, the Messenger of Allah would tell him to take her back and keep her until she has menstruated again and purified herself, then divorce her before having intercourse with her. But if it was three simultaneous divorces, then you have disobeyed Allah with regard to the way in which divorce should be conducted and your wife has become irrevocably divorced.

Ibn Tawus narrated from his father that he heard 'Abdullah bin 'Umar being asked about a man who divorced his wife when she was menstruating. He said: Do you know 'Abdullah bin 'Umar? He said: Yes. He said: He divorced his wife when she was menstruating, and 'Umar went to the Prophet and told him about that. He ordered him to take her back until she became pure, and I did not hear him adding anything to that.

It was narrated from 'Umar that the Prophet -'Amr (one of the narrators) said: The Messenger of Allah- had divorced Hafsah, then he took her back. And Allah knows best.

It was narrated that Salamah bin Nufail Al-Kindi said: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah when a man said: 'O Messenger of Allah! The people have lost interest in horses and put down their weapons, and they say there is no Jihad, and that war has ended.' The Messenger of Allah turned to face him and said: 'They are lying, now the fighting is to come. There will always be a group among my Ummah who will fight for the truth, for whom Allah will cause some people to deviate, and grant them provision from them, until the Hour begins and until the promise of Allah comes. Goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection. It has been revealed to me that I am going to die and will not stay long, and you will follow me group after group, striking one another's necks. And the place of safety for the believers is Ash-Sham.'

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: The Messenger of Allah said: 'There is goodness tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection. And horses are of three types: Those that bring reward to man, those that are a means of protection for a man, and those that are a burden (of sin) for a man. As for those that bring reward, they are kept for the cause of Allah and for Jihad. No fodder enters their stomach but for everything that enters their stomachs, reward is written for him, even if he puts them out to pasture.' And he quoted the Hadith.
